FYI part of heavy water separation from water is via distillation columns almost the same as separating Propylene from Propane. Typical is a pair distillation columns approximately 100 feet high. distilling in a series. The boiling point difference is almost the same but not quite. In the 1980's Enterprise Products was looking to purchase two heavy water columns my company was bidding on to demolish in Canada. They were built in WWII. 14 feet in diameter and rated for 300 psig. We couldn't make this work economically so they were dropped then scrapped.

There is no way the Iranians will be allowed to control the flow of oil....they have darn near alienated everyone less China/NK/Russia and their military might has been degraded and their powers severely curtailed - at home and away, see Lebanon and the Hoots described as a nuisance

Even if the war stops in a week or two, IMO it's unlikely the regime will be able to control their own streets for long, much less the flow of ME oil. Their leadership is decimated and scattered. Their economy and their tech and heavy industry that supplied the military is being dismantled piece by piece. If the population of Iran was united behind the regime, they might be able to rebuild their economy fast enough to retain control. But a large percentage of the population hate the regime and won't cooperate; just the opposite.
The Islamic regime played bad kid on the block for a long time. Now they have a firm grip over nothing, the Iranian Persians see them as murdering thugs, their militia around the middle east are stranded without funding, and the other ME states have had enough. We'll see what becomes of Iran, but I'll be surprised if the Ayatollahs and IRCG survive the coming turmoil.

We've been hearing about this $200 a barrel oil for weeks now...is wish-casting a real thing? Seems like some of you would love for it to be a real thing.
The last time Wall Street predicted $200 oil it was Goldman Sachs in the middle of the financial crisis and great recession. It immediately dropped to what $25? And they made billions shorting it.

And this is why Iran can’t win. We can take the grid down at any point of our choosing. The only way we lose this conflict is if we go in with massive ground troops and get stuck there. It will take years for them to rebuild all of damage that has been done and they can’t do it if they aren’t selling oil. Bomb them for a few more weeks and then seize their tankers.

I’m a dissident in Iran, connecting right now via @Starlink during the #DigitalBlackOutIran?.
The vast majority of Iranians vehemently oppose this regime. Thousands of us have already died proving it. Most of those martyrs had active online accounts. Look up their names. You’ll see they all stood for a free Iran and the return of Pahlavi.
Our most common slogans say it all:
"Long live the King"
and
"This is the final battle — Pahlavi will return."
Right now, the Iranian people are staying in their homes because @realDonaldTrump , @netanyahu , and @PahlaviReza himself asked us to until the bombings stop. We are waiting.
We know the price of freedom will be high. But the price of letting this regime survive is far higher.
We have accepted the cost — this war.
The regime’s time is over.

BREAKING: President Trump tells the Financial Times he wants to “take the oil in Iran” and could seize the export hub of Kharg Island.
“To be honest with you, my favorite thing is to take the oil in Iran but some stupid people back in the US say: ‘why are you doing that?’ But they’re stupid people,” Trump said.

• It resulted in the death of one worker of Indian nationality and severe material damage to the building
• Technical teams and emergency teams immediately commenced their work in accordance with approved emergency plans to address the repercussions of the incident and ensure the continuity of operational efficiency

Iran has agreed to allow 20 Pakistani-flagged vessels to transit the Strait of Hormuz, in what Islamabad has called a meaningful step towards easing one of the worst energy crises in modern history.
Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s foreign minister, announced the move on Saturday, posting on X that two ships would cross daily under the arrangement.

WOW! President Trump just gave his FULL CONFIDENCE to DNI Tulsi Gabbard
Trump says she's a little softer on Iran, but still available to serve
"Yeah, sure. I mean, she's a little bit different in her thought process than me, but that doesn't make somebody not available to serve."
"I think she's probably a little bit softer on that issue, but that's okay. Some people are. Most people aren't."
