If tweet fails to load, click here. The Israeli Air Force is investigating the failure to intercept the ballistic missile that struck the southern city of Arad a short while ago.
The missile, which is assessed to have carried a conventional warhead with hundreds of kilograms of explosives, injured dozens and caused extensive damage.
The Home Front Command is also conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the impact.
Both the IAF and Home Front Command are also investigating the earlier impact in the nearby city of Dimona, which injured dozens more people.

Same way they’ve been able to hit multiple bases and refineries throughout the region. No system is perfect.

I don't know the technical answer, but I'd guess it was always known that a certain percentage would get through. Meanwhile both sides are constantly testing and upgrading their equipment to make it more effective, and that leads to less predictable outcomes when a real war begins.

The iron dome is strongest around Tel Aviv and Haffai. They may have fewer interceptors in the south since Hamas is no longer shooting but Hezbollah in the north is.

A preliminary investigation found that the American THAAD air defense system was supposed to intercept the missiles that hit Arad and Dimona but missed both, according to Maariv.
A similar failure occurred in a recent Beit Shemesh incident. The missiles were identical in all three cases.
