If this doesn’t start deescalating very soon then I think this could be a much longer term problem. Trump must be pretty desperate to find an off ramp if he’s already considering unsanctioning Iranian oil. My sense is we should see more deescalatory moves from Trump in the next few days.

I get that sense, too. The problem is (1) we bombed them twice now while negotiating, so how can they trust us?; (2) we keep killing everyone that could negotiate; (3) does Israel want to deescalate/stop? From Iran's perspective, I could see why they want to keep fighting.

Reports coming out that an F-35 had to make an emergency landing after being hit by suspected Iranian fire. The jet and pilot both made it to the ground safely.

I could answer your question as to why I personally feel there’s a very solid foundation for making a moral argument a philosophical argument and a pragmatic self interested argument as to why we should support freeing the Iranian people.

But I’m not going to because you’re a complete prick on here almost every time I see you reply to anyone, this has nothing to do with me specifically, so I’m not going to

To be fair to Japan it’s literally written into their constitution that we wrote for them post ww2 they can’t project force outward with their navy only for self defense so I get why they had to take a minute and find a way to make your economy meet the self defense needs

All the others I have even less respect for than if they just stayed with no

The JMSDF has had ships deployed in the Arabian Sea/Horn of Africa for years now on maritime security and anti-piracy patrols.

Same with literally all of the other nations mentioned.

Maybe they found a way to work that into their legal framework as well? I’m not an expert on Japanese naval activity which might shock you, but I can read and that’s what their constitution says

Im sure Trump told them that since they so bravely dont want to contribute then they must not need access through the Strait from this point on.

Yea they moved on from that a few years back and made appropriate tweaks within their legal framework.

That is how they have been churning out new ships and converting their "helicopter destroyers" into F35 capable light carriers.

They didn't so much as change the constitution as acknowledge that being able to project power into the Pacific and Philippine sea as a counter to China is in fact "self-defense". As far as their maritime work, they have always spun that as defending Japanese trade interests.

Are they raising a white flag to keep the US or Israel from targeting them or are they raising the white flag to the Iranian opposition?
