Pahlavi looks pretty popular in the country based on what I have seen on the internet. Of course the internet does not always reflect reality.

It's up to the Iranian people to choose who they want and if it's Pahlavi then so be it. Everything I've seen seems to show him as the person they want.

Bombing a funeral loaded with civilians would hurt more in the long-term than any short-term benefit provided even if the majority wanted a regime change.

I would level this place today. Deny that piece of filth the luxury of a state funeral

You joined in August. Almost all new posters are just DU crap stirrers. You appear no different and will be ignored until you post something to redeem your credibility.

Your definition of "ignore" must be different than the one found in the dictionary.

Trump rejects Reza Pahlavi: 'He is a nice guy but I am looking for someone from within Iran who is popular'

This is the problem with a lot of hack accounts. That isn't what he said, yet it is presented as a direct quote. Garbage.

Meh his father tortured quite a few peoples which is why the extremists, commies, socialists, and liberals joined forces to get rid of him. Then the extremists imprisoned and killed all the allies from the revolution that weren’t fanatical like them.
He has support but not near enough.

It also seems a bit early for Trump to start publicly backing someone. As this operation goes along I won't be surprised if his tone changes.

Normally I would agree, but the only people that will be attending that will be hard line IRGC and Islamic Republic affiliated officials. The normal, every day citizens are going to be either still in their homes waiting for a signal to take to the streets or already out in the streets fighting the regime.

Honestly, I don't even know if that funeral takes place at all with the current situation in the Tehran. Every monument to the Islamic Revolution, from buildings, statues, to even mosques are being blown to smithereens right now. Only the hardcore thugs will try to attend that event.

Yeah, I know. I'm just poking fun at the posters who will jump through hoops to say that "we are not at war!!!".

Pahlavi is who our intelligence agencies want like they did his father.

Similar to the recent Nobel winner in Venezuela who Trump smartly refused to install much to the chagrin of the intel agencies and warmongers like Lindsey graham

What Trump is saying is that he thinks it will look bad to bring in someone who appears to be installed by the West.

He thinks it is better to have someone presently there who has the ability to work with the existing framework to reform and not be an outsider.

Eh, for 2 months these people have basically been chanting one name and it's been his. Pahlavi has also said multiple times that he would only be a transitional leader. He would only be in place long enough to oversee a democratic transition in the country

as good as the Israeli air force, with the US running point in clearing the way they can focus more sorties on bombing then trying to get air superiority......

Yeah I’ve heard him say that on tv and it’s smart. He put out an X post today for all the different factions that have been oppressed for decades under the ayatollah’s as well as his father. We'll see if they can forget his father’s acts.

If so it’s probably the best scenario. But they also have a resistance leader in country with lots of support. Can’t remember his name. Point is let them choose
