Speaking to Israel’s Channel 12 News, President Donald Trump said the U.S. is engaged in “very deep talks” with Iran.

Asked how long he is willing to give diplomacy, Trump replied: “Not much time. Either this moves quickly, or it won’t happen at all.”
“Everyone involved in the talks with Iran has asked me, ‘Don’t shoot,’” Trump added, saying he believes the Iranians want to reach a deal.

The government is wasteful and inefficient everywhere, except for our trillion plus annual Department of Wars budget.
When we finally ended the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and our war spending did not go down should have been a pretty big clue what that money is actually for. It isn’t to keep our homeland safe or to build the most effective fighting force.

Correct, the military and most veteran funded pensions are a massive drain on the government. Joining the military and sitting behind a desk for 20 years shouldn’t be a golden ticket for the rest of your life. It’s unaffordable and illogical. If you are a combat veteran with combat issues, that’s one thing but the vast majority of veterans on retirement or disability aren’t and that is the problem. Most of the funding is getting eaten up by the massive bureaucracy it has created post WWII

This is the dumbest shite written on this site. Militaries need a lot of guys who aren’t shooting at the enemy to function. We should take care of all who serve. What we shouldn’t do is glorified corporate welfare to defense contractors who make overwrought equipment that doesn’t scale to real warfare.

No we shouldn’t be offering retirement after 20 years of service. I am sorry that hurts your feelings. The military has become an easy retirement for most military veterans. Vietnam veterans got denied care quite frequently as did others before and after them who served in combat. A veteran who never left the lower 48 shouldn’t be retiring in their early 40’s on 60k. That is unaffordable. That is the problem with the military as a whole. It is too bloated and far too political to sustain itself

That isn’t a defense nor do I care what decisions you made. You joined the service? Awesome but at no point did the American public sign off on your pension plans for individuals who
had desk jobs which is the vast majority of veterans. Fewer than 15% of current military members have experienced combat, nearly 40% have never been deployed. I am all for giving the 15% who have experienced combat a golden parachute or the ones who have been deployed oversees but not the other 50% or so who simply use the military as a means to an end. Sorry, not sorry and the vast majority of Americans would agree with me.
