They still have coastal anti ship missiles and drones. I'm guessing it was this wing of the IRGC Navy

A lot of the ships were taking the new Omani route. Now with the IRGC threatening ships and having just struck one, things will most likely slow down or ships will go back to the Iranian routing scheme to avoid being attacked.

I know some of you hate this but 70 ships went through the Strait of Hormuz yesterday.

True, as mentioned most of those ships took the new Omani route that had been established in the last couple of days which increased the amount of traffic, which evidently pissed off the IRGC.
Now that they have struck a vessel, traffic will most likely slow down as they are all forced back into the Iranian traffic scheme run by the IRGC.
What I want to know is with it being a few hours since a cargo vessel was struck by the IRGC, why are our officials completely silent on the attack? Is this not a breach of the MOU?

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has temporarily suspended its evacuation operation for ships in the Persian Gulf after a vessel was attacked in the Gulf of Oman, saying it needs to reassess safety guarantees before continuing.
The IMO said several vessels had already been evacuated this week under an operation coordinated with member states and the maritime industry.
IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez said he decided to pause the plan “to reconfirm that the necessary safety guarantees continue to be in place for the ships on our evacuation list and all those in the region.”
Dominguez said he had been informed of an attack on a vessel in the Gulf of Oman that had passed through the Strait of Hormuz. He noted that the ship was not operating under the IMO’s evacuation framework but stressed that “the safety of the seafarers remains paramount.”
“To ensure a coordinated approach and navigational safety, the evacuation plan will be paused until further clarity is obtained,” he said.

We'll get a TS post here in an hour or two from Trump telling us why it's really no big deal.

The ship that was struck by the IRGC was a Singapore flagged vessel according to the Wall Street Journal.

The Singapore-flagged Ever Lovely was hit by Iran's IRGC while transiting the Strait of Hormuz in a group of three ships following the IMO-designated route along Oman's coast. Seafarers in the flotilla said no warning or radio contact from Iran's navy preceded the attack. No casualties reported, according to the WSJ.

French President Macron:
Regarding Lebanon, France and Italy have a special responsibility because both contribute to UNIFIL.
Together with Prime Minister Meloni, we want to launch a coalition to prepare a post-UNIFIL mechanism, naturally in cooperation with the European Union and the United Nations.
The objective is to strengthen Lebanon's sovereignty and prevent its territory from once again becoming the starting point of a new regional conflict.
I believe our cooperation on this issue is excellent, and I hope it will open a new perspective before the end of UNIFIL's mandate.

It’s pretty heartless not to at least let the ships that have been stuck there for months get through. They’d lose some of their leverage so basically those sailors are hostages.

I'm kinda on Seattle's side for the first time in a looong time with this one.
Both Iran and Egypt don't want any gay stuff being promoted at their match for the world cup.

The Omani needs to grow some brass balls and push back against Iran. I don't understand why all of the Gulf states puts up with the bully Iran.

Probably because most of them have put up no money to invest in their own self defense by acquiring comprehensive anti-air defense systems and a military capable of deterring Iranian aggression. Lord knows they all have enough money to do so, but they spend it elsewhere.
The gulf coast countries seem to be more interested in spending their money on tall buildings, country clubs, foreign investment and their oil infrastructure and not on defense. They rely too heavily on the US Military to do all of the heavy lifting in regards to their defense, and never envisioned a situation where they could all possibly be attacked at once by anyone, let alone Iran. Therefore, they put very little into their own safety via their military's.
Because of that, we have to spread ourselves too thin to try to keep them secure when the IRGC started lobbing drones and missiles after everyone. The drone thing has become a real big story because it has changed the game in modern warfare. Up until recently, the main aerial threat was probably missiles and fighter/bombers coming at them, so they and were really ill prepared for the drone attacks.

True, eventually though they will start demanding too much and then the GCCd will be in a pickle. Would not be surprised if the IRGC extortion price tag has already risen substantially.
