Interesting opposition from the hardliners:
quote:
Much of the dissent appears to be coming from the hardline Paydari Front, which sees itself as a guardian of the values of the 1979 revolution that established the Islamic Republic. The faction has long opposed engagement with the West and advocates a more ideological vision of the state rooted in Shia Islamist principles.
Ahead of the signing of the MoU, prominent hardline lawmaker Mahmoud Nabavian warned that accepting the agreement would effectively turn Iran into “a colony of the United States.” He also criticized provisions related to the Strait of Hormuz, arguing they would amount to surrendering one of Iran’s most important strategic levers.

Trump blew the hell out of them for weeks and then just last week blew the hell out of them some more. Now we have an MOU.
So, you sound like you don't know what you are talking about.

Please tell me what we have achieved from the MOU?

Memorandum of understanding is not the final version to be signed & is not binding.
Thought that was common knowledge, but it appears I was mistaken. People will still panic about unofficial stuff
Its absolutely horrible, even if its not the final agreement. So if the final agreement looks anything like it,
The entire ordeal was literally pointless.

The most sickening part is that 15 American soldiers were killed and it's not even like we can say the regime changed and the Iranian people are now a free people.

Sounds like you are gullible, and simply parrot out the administrations talking points.
This was a disaster.
This was a disaster.

Oh, that is indeed one of the talking points used by some on this board. They claim that the regime has in fact changed.

So the strait will eventually become a tolled waterway. The Islamic Republic will eventually have gobs more money than it ever did. The Iranian people are still prisoners to a radical regime. Nothing has been accomplished other than regression and the waste of billions of taxpayer dollars. Oh and the "regime change" Trumps touts amounts to TWO fricking people killed at the very top. One was replaced supposedly by their son, and the other by an even more radical IRGC member.
Lebanon will still be occupied by Hezbollah and now HAMAS will have a fricking shite ton of money, weapons, and support coming it's way.
All of that before an actual final deal is concluded on the affair. The MOU gives the IR more than it ever had. I'm so excited for the final deal in 60 days. What will the IR win next?
Iran now knows unless it just happens to deal with the hardest of mother frickers in a future white house, it can get away with whatever it wants. In a little over two years when this admin leaves the WH, they will go right back to pursuing nuclear weapons unabashedly.
Radical Islam just got put in hyper-drive by this. The Arabs have to be almost dying from holding in the laughter right now. Neville Chamberlain can finally rest easy because someone has come along and outdid him by an exponential amount. And the final deal is not even negotiated and put in place yet...
Donald Trump is paper tiger and will do exactly NOTHING in 60 days to make the IR honor it's end. He will twiddle his thumbs and move on to the next shiny thing.
What a terrible second term this has been and I'm completely disappointed into what he has turned into. He sold everyone's future down the river for an investment check from Qatar that will be used to undermine our society for decades to come. Just like what has happened in any western European nation that has gotten into bed with Qatar.

Are you a mouthpiece for the administration? Care to explain what this has accomplished for us? How about asking the families of the dead soldiers who paid in blood for this little excursion Trump thought was so genius. What's your economy looking like right now and what's coming out of your pocket at the pumps? Alongside what you actually got achieved from this entire tiresome conflict in months. How about the future consequences due to the actions? You have to be really shortsighted to think we came out on top of this so far. Trump shriveled with his tail tucked behind after he started the entire mess. He's in over his head and anyone without blinders can see it.

I'm trying to understand how these past 8 to 10 weeks has accomplished anything. The regime which has arguably been a major source of tensions remains in control and its theology of rule hasn't been altered. I understand the carrot/stick analogy but there is no evidence of the past 47 years to rely upon this tactic.
Yes, am enjoying the absence of tension and its benefits such as the price of oil and the DJIA but believe we have only kicked the can down the street
With all this said, the people of Iran must assert its authority if regime change is to occur and this is how the course of a nation changes - not from the outside in but from inside out [assistance from others? possibly but the cleaner the more true]

Trump has to be the most bipolar/hypocritical people of all time. Look at this example from today compared to his stance in 2018:
