I forgot to mention - since Twitter is so mainstream, there's likely not going to be any entertainment outlets/celebrities joining because they can operate 100% unassailed on Twitter.
Those of us who are vocal about our support for our President cannot say the same thing.
I expect that as Zuckerbot tightens his grip on the digital empire that DARPA gifted him in Project LifeLog, there will be a conservative analogue to that at some point, as well.

Well, they blocked Gab's app from their stores. So yeah, they'll probably do their best to kill it off.
Also, Gab was almost killed with it's registrar and host tried to SJW them to death. Gab found a friendly hosting company. Parler needs to have their ducks in a row on this. All it takes is for some a-hole in Silicon Valley to scream "hate speech".

The interface is close enough to Twitter that it's easy to pick up, but there are minor differences that don't make it immune to hiccups.

They (twitter) say it's not necessary, but insist on it as a means to ensure that you're likely a real person. What they're really doing is cross-referencing their system to see if you're someone whom they've executed digitally for wrongthink.
Real phone #s are a lot harder to come by. There's a limit to Google Voice #s you can associate with a real world mobile #, so that's not an avenue, either.
ETA - It's been so long since I created my account (June 2019) that I don't recall Parler asking for that info, but I'd imagine that it's fairly innocuous.

Parler Makes $20k Progressive Debate Challenge

Following a series of conflicts between Twitter and President Donald Trump, Parler called itself the “anti-Twitter” and invited social users concerned with free speech to dump the social media giant and establish a Parler account.

Well... while I agree with your sentiment, it's important to realize that for thousands, dual citizenship is not allowed as many of us have been forcibly removed from Twitter due to our communicable wrongthink.

More likely they would ban them from their respective stores so you have to actively search them out.
