Obama and the dems didn’t think so when they passed the law, which is why you only benefited from subsidies starting in 2021 and not 2013-2021
Technically true 13 years later, but i wasnt making what I make now at that point. Specific to my situation that isnt factoring in career/financial growth. Through out 2013-2021 we were just barely under the limit of still getting subsidies, it was usually very minimal 1000-1200 a year in assistance. Insurance costs also have not stayed at the levels they were in 2013 subsidies or not.
Subsidies took effect up to 400% of the federal poverty limit, which is still over 100k for a family of 4.
There are plenty of people in my situation that got left staring down a $15,000 immediate increase to their health insurance and decided to just hope for the best and save the $30,000 in subscription based premiums.
Obamacare is horrendous and should be gutted and thrown out. But there is more to the 3 million drop in enrollment than just fraud.

My employer and I are paying $30k/yr with $4k per person deductibles and $8k out of pocket max.
I dont have any pity for you.
Before ACA, we were paying $17k/yr with $250 deductibles and $1700 out of pocket max.
It is my same employer. Same family.

Yea I did not enroll this year. Self employed so its my only real option. My monthly premium for the family went from $1200 a month to $2500 a month when congress let the subsidies expire.
I lost coverage from my small business employer who was getting squeezed by the carriers in ever increasing rates.
I tried an Obamacare plan, after the first month I realized I would be paying nearly 500 a month out of pocket after tax with a 300 subsidy. I go to the doctor maybe 3-4 times a year, I take 3 medications, all are generic Two of the drugs are free at Sam’s with a plus membership.
I had to go to the doctor yesterday for the first time with no insurance to get one of the prescriptions refilled. The damage was 135. 85 for the visit and 50 was for an A1C and glucose check. I made sure to tell the clinic that I was paying cash. I wish they could have charged a bit less.
If I had an Obamacare plan, my cost would have been 40 or 50 depending on the plan plus the bloodwork which in the past has been about 10-30 dollars. Blue Cross HMO Louisiana would have been the payer, and probably wouldn’t have paid much more.
I just need to watch my health and if cancer or some other long term health issue comes up, I guess I will have to jump on a plan in open enrollment in the fall.
The biggest issue now is that some insurance is out pacing wage growth especially in healthcare, flood, and homeowners insurance. Auto is probably the only insurance that has stayed consistent since 2000 when I first purchased it for about 200 a month.
The one thing I would suggest is that creating an HSA should be a universal option and not just for those with High Deductible plans. That way you can get the tax benefit of spending out of pocket for everything health related.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the Republicans majority would simply get rid of this?

Essentially massively expensive catastrophic health coverage. Total fail.

I don’t think subsides were originally meant for people in your family’s position
No? You don’t think so?
If not for hard working middle class families, then who was it meant for?
Oh that’s right, another handout for the welfare class.
