My my my. How Dems forget, huh?

quote:

The incoming Obama administration has notified all politically-appointed ambassadors that they must vacate their posts as of Jan. 20, the day President-elect Barack Obama takes the oath of office, a State Department official said.

The clean slate will open up prime opportunities for the president-elect to reward political supporters with posts in London, Paris, Tokyo and the like. The notice to diplomatic posts was issued this week.

Political ambassadors sometimes are permitted to stay on briefly during a new administration, but the sweeping nature of the directive suggests that Obama has little interest in retaining any of Bush's ambassadorial appointees.

And US Attorneys as well. Do Asst. US Attorneys fall under federal civil service protection? (They damn sure shouldn't. The lingering stench of Obama and his Sorosfuhrer makes abolishing the DOJ in it's entirety seem reasonable.)

But the downside of electing an outsider is that they haven't spent decades assembling these lists of partisan loyalists like the lifelong political aspirants. Well, that's one of the downsides.

Trump missed an opportunity to “drain the swamp” on day one. He should have fired every non-essential employee and then hired them back through a screening process. We could have avoided all this whistle blower bullshite.

Probably not. They probably knew that they would lose their position.

Cronyism. Pay back time for Obama. Carolyn Kennedy and her appointment to Japan.... it just goes on and on and on...

Trump owed very few.

There are politically-appointed ambassadors (they usually get cushy positions like ambassador to France) and there are career State Department employees who are appointed ambassador to more challenging situations. Every President replaces the politically appointed ambassadors when coming into office. Trump did as well.

The woman who testified yesterday was a career diplomat, not a politically-appointed one. They usually aren’t just removed from their post without cause.

This proves the Uniparty theory more than anything.

Is there anyone on the face of this planet who believes Trump would have refused to sign any non-amnesty bill the GOP put on his desk? Minus that one issue, he would have been a rubber stamp due to his desire to please his voters and his general ignorance and lack of interest in the minutiae of governance. Single payer healthcare, repeal of gay marriage, legalizing weed, concealed carry reciprocity - I'm telling you they could have gotten whatever they wanted, no matter how "liberal" or "conservative".

What did the GOP power players do instead? Blew months of legislative activity on pointless health insurance that they were completely unprepared for after years of bullshitting voters. And when the Trump transition team came to them to begin the process of filling out the insane list of Executive appointments, they deliberately staffed his admin with saboteurs.

There's another timeline here where Trump isn't reviled as a wanna-be dictator but as a know-nothing figurehead unable to curtail the worst impulses of the GOP establishment. Unfortunately for the GOPe, Trump is willing to turn both barrels on his alleged compatriots.

So you're saying all the appointments made by Bush and fired by Obama were political appointments?

The cause was Guiliani didn’t want a well-respected, well-connected person in Kiev when he stupidly tried to blackmail the Ukrainian government

Tying himself to Guiliani was one of the worse decisions Trump has made

Ambassadors aren't some protected position.

they are basically jobs given to people, for favors they got during their election. President hands some ambassador gigs out to people who helped him or friends of people who helped him.

Only the Dems could make an Ambassador more than they really are.

That is not what came out in this hearing with the ambassador.

Is this an I feel statement? What does this mean?

I have no idea if Obama removed any career State Department ambassadors over the course of his eight years. But the mass replacement done when a new President takes office are the politically-appointed positions given to friends and supporters. Trump did this too. As well as Obama, W, Clinton, etc.

Hmmm you had Ukrainians over here and some of them prominent politicians making statements interfering in OUR election back in 2016, and not a word from OUR ambassador telling them to knock it off.

WE now KNOW she was aware of Hunter Biden and the BS going on over there , and not one word. She KNEW there was a conflict of interest, and the mighty corruption fighter uttered not one word of protest.

No wonder Trump removed her.
