Why are teachers striking over slavery?

California's unions prioritise progressivism over fair pay
------------------------------------
The two most newsworthy of the union’s demands, and the most noteworthy to parents wondering how long their kids would be out of school, concerned racial reparations and environmental justice. From what we were hearing, the teachers wouldn’t return to work until our schools were remade into places where racial reparations are paid out and environmental justice is finally done.

The “reparations” demand is, at once, confusing and revealing. It’s confusing because, in its details, it doesn’t mean what Americans think of when they think of racial reparations. It’s revealing because it shows the teachers’ union going the way of other progressive organisations in recent years. Instead of protecting the material and professional interests of our beloved teachers, the activist leaders of their union have taken up a new mission — impressing each other with radical gestures.

it's truly amazing what 60 years of public eduction, 40 years of unabashedly biased media and 20 years of social media can do

When is a judge going to call this an illegal strike.

This has nothing to do with their work place standards or safety.

It has nothing to do with pay or retirements.

Fire them. Replace them.

They don't get to hold education hostage from kids because the have personal feelings about something.

Teachers are not heroes. They are susceptible to being the same overly dramatic morons as in any other position. You get into this situation, by elevating people above others because tik-tok told you they were heroes.

There are some teachers that are worth their weight in gold, but that is the exception, not the rule.

Our current testing scores is a true indicator of the state of our "teachers" in this country, as well as the bang up job of some of these "parents".

There’s going to be a hybrid creation where traditional schooling goes away because radicalized teachers hold a child’s education hostage to political ideologies. We know home schooling doesn’t work effectively as evidenced by Covid, so some form of part time instruction and online home schooling is going to come into play at some point.

1) Won't happen, it's California.
2) You are going to replace them with what? More California public workers?

Doubtful they would find one in California that would put them back to work...

This has nothing to do with anything in their lives. It's all about the free money. Give in to that and they will not continue to teach. Fire all of them on the strike, as they were not good teachers to begin with.

My wife is a teacher and she is on summer break in our state. Imagine that is the case in california as well. Are they striking from being off work, by going to work?

Apparently they do. It is California, after all.

It’s interesting how an anti-Christian worldview can manifest itself in the most absurd ways.

There was a time when no one was overly dramatic.
There was a time when only students were overly dramatic.

Isn't striking about reparations basically systemic racism that neglects POC kids education?
