I said it during the early part of the primaries: this was our first (of many) post-truth election. Neither side cared about the truth. It was about narrative, power and the power of the narrative.
Liberals, having preached for several decades that there are no objective truths, are now surprised that people to the right of them have bought into the idea.

Unfortunately, this thread highlights that neither side really cares much for the truth, unless it's the other side who is making a claim.
To me, that's the problem with the swamp. So if you drain the dishonesty from the swamp, but fill it back up with dishonesty, then the swamp is still there.

"You can keep your doctor a want." Nobody cared.

No doubt the guy has conservatism written all over him in the Bill Kristol kind of way.
He is of the GOP establishment variety who wanted status quo politics. Trump took his party from him and so he has a common goal with the left in toppling Trump. He doesn't want him as president, so it's no surprise he pens an opinion like the one published in the NYT.
What ultimately got Trump elected was the GOP begging and making promises to elect them and they do nothing. It was the barrage of PC politics stifling conversation in fear of reprisal. It was decades of lying, manipulating, dividing, reckless policy, etc.
It was the democratic policy and agenda of the last eight years that got Trump elected. It was a horrible candidate in HRC that got Trump elected.
Middle class Americans woke up and said enough. Rejected politics as usual and voted in someone that went against the grain. Is it a mistake? We will find out but I can tell you I was against Trump for awhile, but no way was I going to waste my vote and give Hillary a chance to win. No way was I wanting more democratic rule undermining the constitution and more of the Obama policy continuing or becoming worse.
Do nothing Washington heard from America this election and based on the continued line of thinking establishments on both sides didn't listen. Hopefully their time in office is running short too.

quote:The "Orwellian age" started when the media openly fabricated stories about GWB. It accelerated when the media openly took sides and advocated for Batak Obama. By the time they started their unabashed campaign for Hillary--no one cares.
credibility is in the Orwellian age of Donald Trump.
They have 100% brought this upon themselves. Donald Trump has nothing to do with it. .

Scary thread to read. Not shocking, though.

This is called being upset they can no longer set the narrative. That is what really pisses the left off. They cannot control how people think anymore.

Of course there is.

No one can win arguing this point.

For years, as a conservative radio talk show host, I played a role in that conditioning by hammering the mainstream media for its bias and double standards.
Odd. I've never heard of Charles Sykes. Was he broadcasting from a crystal set in his mom's basement?

Ask him how many of those were in the NYT.
I don't think that was the point.
Yes. The biased NYT cherry picks the writers work.
But, that doesn't negate that the writer apparently isn't a one note Nancy
