CNN has repeated that the info in the buzzfeed docs is completely unverified. Their story isn't that they claim it's true but that Russians claim to have dirt on Trump and that the IC has taken those threats seriously.

BS...CNN claimed multiple IC sources and never once admitted Buzzfeed involvement. CNN chucked what they had left of Journalistic ethics in the trash for the sake of partisan politics. It's what happens when you become a parody of your former self.

This is a perfect time to re introduce real news reporting. Gain the credibility as THE source. Do so by exposing the why behind all the bullshite reporting. America would flock to it. Could be the saving grace for some of the old newspapers

Apparently it is 2nd hand heresay as it is now being reported that their was no briefing (which was the air-cover making it a "story" to some).
And sure, "I want you to contact the FBI", bullshite. No one in their right mind wants the FBI, CIA, IRS, anyone, snooping around anything. Thats how you get focked.

The mainstream isn't even pretending to follow any process. Taibbi noted about the WaPo Rusdia story that shortly followed the election that it was unparalleled how the media was ditching its processes and standards.

If it's true Trump and Obama were briefed (MSNBC may be disputing this, but I'm not about to give them anymore credit than CNN) on the dossier material, that in and of itself is a story. And obviously they didn't release the underlying details.
Now, arguably, they wet the appetite and begged the question such that it was inevitable it would be released. But while I question CNN's motives, of course, I think they can justify their actions here.

This is the creeping evil of this. A fringe source runs a story which is BS. Then the mainstream outlets get people's reactions to the BS story. "It's out there. We have to talk about it."
I don't feel bad about it for Trump as he used the same process in his campaign. But it's pretty ridiculous.
