A was somewhat interested in nukes and was actively developing the means to produce them.
B is extremely interested in nukes and will likely try developing the means to produce them.
A and B = trying to produce nukes
So why should we care exactly how excited they might be if the end result is the same?

quote:I would hope this covers other threats and not just Iran. Or is Iran the most serious threat? Also, how would our IC benefit from lying about/giving bad intelligence about a bad state NOT having WMD’s? They usually do the exact opposite.
If Iran wasn't a legitimate concern then why would the DoD maintain such an expansive enterprise? Not like our intelligence assets haven't been very wrong before.

It does but Iran is by far the biggest threat here. There's no doubt they would use a nuclear weapon on US allies and to destabilize the ME completely. Iran has long range missiles already, loading them with even low-yield fission devices would be a catastrophic escalation. You think oil prices are bad now, they are absolutely nothing compared to a confirmed nuclear capable Iran.

Quit looking for excuses to do what you need to do and just go do it.
