This was written as a news story, not opinion, but is one of the most editorialized news pieces I’ve ever read.
Both should be fired, or at least suspended, if there was any editorial integrity at the New York Times.

Agree 100% but it’s been a long time since NYT was accused of journalism.
Those phrases fit in perfectly well with propaganda pieces however, which is what NYT and other MSM outlets function to serve.
There’s still some independent journalism out there but you have to search it out.

This was directly after an unarmed Trump supporter, the only person actually killed at January 6, was murdered in part because him and his antifa friends were egging her on and were nice enough to break the glass she walked through.

I’ve no doubt that Jan 6 was mainly instigated by the feds. But unlike Trumpkins who think this exonerates Trump, I think it convicts him. Nancy Pelosi saw what was going to happen; she saw it weeks ahead, and she laid a trap. Trump walked right into her trap.
Although I hate her politics, and the fact that she is a self-enriching parasite, I have tremendous respect for Pelosis’ generalship. She is clearly superior to Trump as evidenced by her sweeping victory in what I think of as The Battle of January 6th.
I think Trump is on her level as a critical thinker. I just think he is too self-absorbed in his egotism and it handicaps him.

Well what did they gain? Let's pretend that the deep state, antifa, or whoever orchestrated Jan 6th and goaded a bunch of Trump supporters into storming the Capitol. There's absolutely no way you can precisely control a riot even if 100% of the participants were in on the ruse. And clearly most of them were tried and true Trump supporters or else Donald wouldn't be calling them hostages at his rallies.
So in the course of all this the election was close to not being confirmed at which point everything would be thrown into chaos. What possible gain would be worth risking the presidency for the Democratic Party?

So the Democratic Party has the ability to wield rioters (who are notoriously easy to control) into disrupting the election confirmation just enough that it wouldn't actually stop it. They have this much power but still couldn't give themselves more than 50/50 in the Senate that year nor could they keep control of the House in 2022?
