The fricking head of the FBI said yesterday there was no evidence of trump's asinine assertion. But rather than accept the fact that Trump made the whole thing up (just as he does and has for decades) they cling to some new guy they've never heard of and suggest Comey is a part of "deep state".

Nope. Pretty much every foreign phone call (e-mail, text, website) is being monitored by NSA. Ever seen that data center in Utah? Yeah, they are collecting EVERYTHING in the WORLD. That place has so much storage. It's bigger than all of Google's servers combined.
All you need is to enter Trump's phone number into XKEYSCORE (the NSA's internal "google") and see which numbers he has called. If it is an American to American call, you ignore it. If he calls ANYONE in ANY foreign country, it's fair game. They can monitor it without a warrant by claiming they were monitoring the other guy. It's a trick I'm sure they use all the time.
Remember, Nunes said he read the TRANSCRIPTS of the calls. There weren't Russians on the other end. Russia didn't even come up in the conversations. So what you have is essentially innocent phone calls being monitored "incidentally." The American names (Trump and his team) were then ordered to be unmasked by someone (probably the White House). After that, these convos were compiled and put in intelligence reports that were sent.... somewhere..
