If these numbers are correct and I'm sure they are 100% on point. We can own a semi automatic rifle, then we should be able to have full auto guns since they dont shoot as fast. Right?

The Orange Man Bad club said hold my beer.
Black Rifle Worse.
1200 rounds per minute.
Literally Satan spewing hell fire.

1200 rounds a minute? That's 20 rounds every second, even someone who has no knowledge of firearms should know that is impossible.

Come on, y'all, I'm sure they did their research.
See.

My very first thought.
Even after rapidly emptying my Beretta M9 with one in the pipe and 15/clip, you can hardly handle it without gloves.

I want to know...who's carrying those 1200 rounds? They aren't carrying themselves.
Posted on 8/6/19 at 6:11 am to Vols&Shaft83
Are they calling something like a bump stock a “modified” semi auto? The weapon is limited by the frequency that the bolt cycles, no matter what else is going on.

I've scrolled through the link 5 times and dont see that graphic
Did they take it down?

1200 rounds per minute on a semi automatic AR-15
Hell, even 950 on a fully auto is ridiculously inaccurate. You’d have the empty a 30 round magazine and reload the next one all in less than 2 seconds for a 950 round pace.

I have never understood why people feel the need to use exaggerated members to prove a point which would be established equally well with accurate numbers. The three bottom weapons can throw a lot more lead than the top two weapons.
Of course, there is also the possibility that someone simply accidentally added a zero to the data for the AR-15 before the graphic was ever generated, and everyone thereafter was simply too ignorant to recognize the physical impossibility of that number.

But much “they’d be useless against an oppressive govt”...

And we expect people who have knowledge like this to create our laws

The revolver image isn't a LCR - it isn't a Ruger at all, but a Smith J-frame (maybe a 36?)
The semi-automatic pistol image isn't a "Colt model 70 (whatever that is)". Best guess - it is a classic Sig, like a P225, P228 or P229.
No "semi-automatic" weapon is firing 20 rounds a second. I think a trained shooter with an expensive trigger could get off a rate approaching 3 rounds per second, but none of that would be aimed. 120 per minute is about right. The 950 is a little high for full auto rifle. Keep in mind that automatic rifles are wildly inaccurate after the first shot, unless braced or on a bipod.
No surprise graphic is mostly ridiculous, though. No one is more ignorant of actual firearms issues than the average journalist writing about them.

In the army I was taught to shoot a three round burst with one trigger pull. So that would be about 180 rounds per minute. Now subtract the time time to take out clip and insert a new one. When you tried to shot more than a three round burst barrel would rise and could not hit a damn thing. This was in the early 70's, I am sure the 16's do not jam like they used to and clips have more rounds.
