GOP does not need remove anybody. Move forward and concentrate on the appropriations phase of the spending bill in Sept. If they (GOP) stick together they can still come out winners. You think a massive internal brawl will help their cause? They just went through that.

dumping speaker is probably not likely until after this debt bill has passed.
really depends on whether someone wants the job.

looks like the heavy lifting is over.

I’d rather have Nancy P than McCarthy, he might be the biggest slimeball in DC

Uh, this was literally in OP:

quote:

I know Gaetz got McCarthy's nuts in a vice on paper, but if he can't come through with replacing KM then his whole coalition may be dead within a year. This would show the lack of power they have and may neuter them to even further fringes of the Congressional power structure.

It seems clear the Patriot/Maga/Gaetz (whatever the label du jour is) movement lacks any real support/power. They just got cucked by Kevin McCarthy of all people

What I want is irrelevant to this thread.

Then why even start it?

I mean, I have MY theory as to why and I’m pretty confident in it. I just want to hear your rationale.

This is a political discussion forum/message board. This is a legitimate political discussion.

You think that people should only make threads based on personal convictions/desires?

Kay Granger is the head of the House Appropriations.
Watch Andy Harris of Maryland and Mike Garcia of California. Our own Julia Letlow is on the committee, don't know much about her though.

No.

But I’m certainly suggesting it as a motivation to do so. Whether you choose to admit it or not.

My thesis is spelled out in OP and it has nothing to with what I "want"

You want a divisive internal battle. Nothing wrong with that if you are a Lefty.

No. Matt Gaetz and a very small population of Patriots do.

They thought, like most Patriots, that they had more support. They appear to be wrong in their assessment.

Hijacked? What a strange way of looking at this.

If you think think this deal is a disaster you will realize that Gaetz was right to take a stand even if he didn't succeed. On the biggest issue this congress will face, McCarthy did what everyone opposed to him said he would do. He "folded" and gave the Dems everything they wanted. He negotiated without the fiscal hawks in his own party in the room. And, he postponed the next conversation until after the presidential election so that Biden was shielded.

Gaetz has the same problem all of us (not necessarily you) have. The Republican party represents something different than he does. It has different goals and objectives.
