There are some that don't like it, sure, but by and large most still love the Eagles, Journey, etc.....and it doesn't matter what age. You were kinda late to the party as well as I'm sure you really started paying attention in the 90s. I'm a little more than 10 years older than you and it blows my mind how long some of the legendary 80s bands are still popular, almost half a century later.

As previously mentioned, you're old. Go searching on Spotify. There is good rock music today,

there is nothing evening close, and I don't care how old you are.....there just aren't the bands anywhere close to what they once were....name some that are in the same league as Journey, Eagles, etc....You MIGHT find some country music stars that are similar to Strait (not equal), but in rock, no.

It's so bad, that I rarely turn the car radio on. Spotify has been my salvation with most tunes circa late 60's, 70's and some 80's with a few 40's classics like Minnie the Moocher, or I'll Be Seeing You (Mom's influence). Same thing with most movies, poor acting, poor scripts, etc.

That's a personal taste issue. There were many people back then that didn't care for the Eagles or Journey as some previously mentioned.

All I said was that if you dug around on Spotify you'd find good current rock bands. They arent going to be big like in the past but there is something you can find out there.

The Eagles had a lot of good songs but in hindsight they were a pretty tame, sanitized version of more memorable bands like the Allmans, CCR, or Little Feat. Personally I'll take Dr. Hook over the Eagles anyday. They actually have a great catalogue aside from the comedy songs.

I knew Journey was for gays when I was 13. Journey has always sucked arse. You like really mild and boring music.

Today music is mainly solo performers, not many rock bands. The solo singers are generally capable of crossover to rock, pop, country, depending on range and power….Teddy Swims, Chris Stapleton, ome to mind as examples….he is gone now but Toby Keiths remake of Long Train Running with the Doobie Brtohers and Huey Lewis was powerfully….

Great music across every genre is being released every day, you have to look for what you like because the pool to pick from is vaster than ever before

I saw Don McLean (American Pie, Vincent) in concert about 10 years ago and he mentioned this very thing. He blamed it on the advent of the internet. And the timeline does seem to correlate somewhat.

There are plenty of good bands since the Eagles and Van Halen but the mere inclusion of Van Halen with the Eagles is laughable. Outside of the Van Halen brothers they were garbage with David Lee Roth. Now, if you want to argue there haven’t been very many good bands since the 90’s then you would be correct

No, but what the helll does that have to do with anything? One of my points was, gifted singers/musicians of the past 30 years haven't been supported or promoted to even have a chance to become the next Don Henley, Steve Perry, etc. That's obvious.

You have to wonder how much of that is just because of how the market is

Parents will pay thousands so their daughter can see Taylor swift, and childless 40 year old women will also go to it for “girlie time”

I just can’t imagine people paying those kinds of prices for more male oriented musicians

Zach Bryan for instance. Before he blew up, I saw him at a show and spent something like $50 bucks. Now that he became a pop star with a big girl following, his tickets cost shitloads

That's just due to streaming and changes in music.

The only people who get promoted are pop versions of whatever genre they're apart of. Rap, hip hop, country, rock, or just pop.

There is tons of good music being made in all forms and variations of rock, but you have to "do your own research" as certain people like to say.

70s/80s style pop-rock or stadium rock as a major pop avenue? Not likely to be coming back anytime soon. That's oldies music, just as big band never came back when rock emerged.

You may get some hybrid style pop that incorporates rock (as someone else pointed out, something like Imagine Dragons)

Hip Hop was the retarded vulgarization of pop culture.

Hope its on its last legs.
