re: Now that Iran has claimed victory what realistic and sensible options are left for the US.

Yes. That existed prior to this conflict you might recall.
You made the absurd claim that this conflict has changed that ...
It hasn't.
In fact, US strategists are trying to economically strangle the IRGC ... the Strait of Hornuz means nothing to the US economically.
Politically, it means a lot ... cause you're right. Iran hasn't launched attacks on the US ... cause they can't. So they attack UAE, Jordan, Oman, etc and we're only trying to open the strait for other middle east nations.
This whole engagement is diplomatic for the other Middle East nations ... that Iran continues to beat and abuse ...
But like Mike in Breaking Bad . You're a half measure guy

It hasn't changed it. But it does present risks.

Yeah...we've been doing that for decades. I'm sure any day now it will work.

Which is why the strategic petroleum reserve is at it's lowest point in over 40 years....I'm sure that's just a coincidence. And China has been offering huge relief to global oil market disruptions.
The strait of Hormuz is in fact important to the United States and it's not just because of energy issues. Semiconductor and fertilizer supply chains are impacted globally. I don't know if you've been in a coma since 2022 but our domestic economy is very highly pegged to the free flow of semiconductors back to the United States. The global economy is interconnected. Causing demand destruction in other countries will hurt the United States.

Amusing.
I think this one works out for us when it’s done.
The world is growing weary of Iran. Regional players are making moves to remove their influence.

We should have let them do most of the heavy lifting IMO
I'm no fan of Iran. I just recognize that this is getting a lot messier than Trump was lead to believe by some bad actors. He's a fool for ignoring the smart people that he is surrounded by.

The AI bubble needs to be popped as it's the greatest misallocation of capital in the history of the world.
The idea that back propagation, transformer-based neural nets are the path to AGI is a hype train to nowhere ...
So no, semiconductors are not the cornerstone to the US economy

They're certainly fundamental to the value of the stock market
And whether or not you think AI is a bubble that needs to be popped there is no way to spin a semiconductor supply chain issue as a "good" thing. It impacts all sorts of industries beyond the tech world.

War is messy.
Washington had all kinds of blunders before final victory.
The Strait will stabilize. Iran will launch more missiles and drones, which shows their location, and we take them out(as we did tonight).
It’s a war of attrition.
We will prevail.

It might be all the dick sucking of theirs you do that has us confused on this point.

That would be an interesting observation...if only it were true. It is not.

Which is exactly the type of war that we didn't intend to get into
If you're honest you would at least acknowledge that

Powerman thinks it’s possible Iran, through control of the strait, will bring the global economy to its knees
At least I’m assuming his asinine position is based on controlling the strait.

Permanent presence and continued smacking around would be what if do.
Should have never left Iraq or Afghanistan imo.
The major airports and bases should have been U.S. property for next 100years till stability was achieved much the same as Germany and Japan in WW2.

If they continue to control it yes. Whether or not they're able to do that remains to be seen. Hopefully they can't do it for much longer.

It's not an asinine position. If it was so asinine then why is the issue so important to Trump? Do you think he is asinine for being concerned about control of the strait?

You might want to wipe your chin.

Again...why is Trump so concerned with the issue? Is he asinine?

He neither “so concerned” nor asinine. You are both.
Wipe your chin. You’re trying too hard.

I sure hope America never has a “victory” that consists of our military being neutered, our leadership being killed off and our main source of revenue being shut off so our economy crashes. I guess the Japs won WWII by your logic.

His words and actions suggest that he is very concerned about the control of the strait
You can live in a fictional world all you want. Just realize that you are 180 degrees away from Trump on this issue.

Right, agree. What's the strategy?
Unleash Israel and the UAE. They know where every single one of these people are 24/7 and where their families live.
