You better believe they won’t target those areas because either they’re getting donations or it would badly hurt the economy.

Or maybe because people have to eat.

How many people would starve if California stopped growing almonds?

Okay, let's address the elephant in the room. What does this mean for the San Fernando Valley? Are we looking at a looming porn shortage?

1) We had this shite in the 80's.

It's not communism.

It's no water. Freaking cows drink up the State. Stop eating hamburgers! Those frickers destroy the land and drink up all the water.

California doesn't have droughts, it's a freaking Desert that decided to raise cattle up and down the Coast.

In the 80's it was take a shower, turn on the water...turn it off...lather up, turn the water on.

Don't flush if you just pee. And all toilets were low-flow - you put more than a few squares of TP in the toilet it would plug up.

California is and always will be a Desert but it just so happens almost everyone wants to live here.

Population is WAY TOO LARGE and there is no water for people, for farmers and let alone all those freaking cows.

The mandatory water conservation standards will be permanent, according to their wording, and not just for use in times of crisis. To make a long story short, now that these bills are law, it’s illegal to take a shower and do a load of laundry in the same day because you’ll exceed your “ration.”

The good news is the hippies don’t shower or wash

If you’re wondering how the government would know how much water your family is using, the utility providers will be obligated to rat you out of face massive fines. And they’re encouraged to spy in all sorts of creative ways. They “shall use satellite imagery, site visits, or other best available technology to develop an accurate estimate of landscaped areas.”

i can see it now thanks to South Park (think the Toilet Safety Administration):

quote:

To combat high water usage, California now provides the citizens of California with two choices: (1) the installation of government cameras in your bathrooms (i.e. with access to shower areas) and your washrooms so they can monitor your water usage or (2) you provide full real-time access for a employee of California's Water Usage Bureau to monitor your home's use of water. This means full access while members of your household are using the shower or washing clothes.

It's tough to grasp for people who live in a state that has too much water.. but drought and decreasing availability of water are very real problems for california

Policing what, exactly?

I'm sure the law is over-reaching but I doubt it plays out as the title suggests. Can you cite the language in the bill that says you can not shower and do laundry on the same day? Here's the bill in question.

Born and raised there myself. Was a magical childhood and into my 20's. I wouldn't move back and put up with what it has become.

The problem with all the ones leaving is that a majority of them created it with their votes and political leanings. Then they go and screw up another beautiful place (see Colorado for one). They don't accept that they are the reason for these places going to shite.

It's maddening.

This is what amazes me as well. And its true of migrants from Latin America as well. You leave a country that is run by oppressive govts....and vote for the same shite when you reach the states somehow expecting a different result.

A couple of years ago there was a large article about the water shortage in Cali. In one picture they were showing a farmer in the valley and where part of his land was left fallow due to water regs. While the story lamented his plight, I looked at where the irrigation stopped and it was literally a desert. He had turned his "farm" into an oasis. All I could think of were the thousands of poor bastards in LA who could not take a shower and wash clothes cause this prick decided to grow almonds in the desert.

The last snowpack that caused floods. I saw a newscaster standing next to a friggin river of runoff going into the ocean, he said there were plans years ago to build a retaining lake to catch this water but they fell through, no doubt spent on some useless social program for illegals.
