Yes it is. I do believe they know he is going to get slaughtered but they want to see his numbers primarily as a reference point going forward in future campaigns.

He should establish the floor for what a candidate should expect from the D side.
Paxton isn’t the perfect candidate either, but at least he can point to his record and show he is not a Rino and will go after the Democrats and all the crazy woke ideology.
