https://www.wafb.com/2021/08/12/mayor-broome-no-immediate-plans-implement-city-wide-vaccine-mandate/

quote:

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - “I have no immediate plans to implement a city-wide vaccine mandate for private entities,” said Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome on Thursday, August 12.

The statement was made in response to news the city of New Orleans is expected to require people to provide proof of a COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test before entering restaurants, bars, and other venues, including the Caesars Superdome.

quote:

We are considering a potential vaccine/testing policy for city-parish employees as the FDA is expected to fully approve the Pfizer vaccine in the near the future.

While I am not adverse to any effective path forward to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and its variants, I have no immediate plans to implement a city-wide vaccine mandate for private entities. The plan needed to enforce such a mandate could possibly minimize the time and resources dedicate to community vaccinations.

Yet, I wholeheartedly support individual business who feel it necessary to pursue this route on their own.

If the private business doesn't want to enforce it, how can they legally force them to?

They send the fire marshall around and close the business down because they are "violating the fire code" or something. No one said it was legal.

I would love to know since it’s been proven and said by all these federal people, the CDC and the animal that exploded on Tchoupitoulas last month...

Since vaccinated people can 1) get covid and 2) spread covid.. what happens when restaurants, who only accept vaccinated people, have diners who get sick with covid from dining in their restaurant?
