that said a handful of spec ops dudes running around with beards isnt really as damaging as a two-standard system at a line unit where select troops are allowed to get away with the same thing that the others get in trouble for.
100%... I used to literally write the no shave chits

Of course they do.
moment got mad because I made fun of his tan belt, and tried pretending most reservists never go to Lejeune.

Even better, make relaxed grooming the broad standard and have a case by case requirement to be clean shaven.
If everyone is special, no one is special.

The standard is clean shaven from day one.

tattoo regs have fluctuated over the years, usually corresponding to recruiting and retention rates

The sooner the pubey beard fad goes away, the better. It's such a bad look. You aren't in hells angles bro, trim that shite up.

The brothers learned this one with the quickness.
I was USAFE in the late 80s-early 90s.
The bruthas took advantage of the shaving waiver so they could go into town incognito to chase the white girls.
They were very successful at it.

Pretty popular among sailors at dam neck, little creek and coronado

no homosexuals, so not needed

This entire thread is a fail.
The number one thing is that beards do not interfere with a gas mask seal. According to OSHA:
Common sense would tell that if this was mission essential our special force operators wouldn’t have beards.
But also the fact remains that gas masks are very seldom needed for real world uses. In exercises the masks don’t even have operational filters. So there is literally no true seal.
Also it is too easy to shave one off if you were to go into an area where there is chance of a CBRN event.
Bunch of hardasses in here basically saving I had to shave so you need to also.

While the standard does not ban beards per se, it does require employers to ensure that bearded employees who are required to wear tight-fitting facepieces trim their beards so that they do not interfere with the sealing surface of the respirator or are not so large that they could interfere with valve function.

Back in my day in the USMC, they'd kick you out if you didn't get it fixed somehow.

I was 17 years old when I volunteered for the Army. I had no facial hair and had never shaved my face until a really hard-nosed drill sergeant demanded I spread shaving cream on my face and shave. He actually stood beside me as I complied with his orders. I had told him I didn't need to shave cause I had nothing to shave, but I guess that's what set him off. He said, "your'e gonna shave skin, if nothing else!"
NO BEARDS FOR ANYONE WHILE I WAS IN.
NO BEARDS FOR ANYONE WHILE I WAS IN.

Anyone can get a shaving chit. I’ve seen guys break out so bad they constantly bleed every time they shave. I do believe some just don’t want to shave. Having a shaving chit is not private information. They are suppose to in my day carry it with them at all times.
