The branding of their latest temper tantrum as No Kings is so stupid.

Good morning to the mental ill downvoter! Hope you are well.

the average person recoups their own contributions within roughly 3–5 years after they start collecting benef

So basically if you are older than 69 yrs old you are now collecting welfare. As adjustments average 2% COLA year over year… seniors do get significantly more out. By 72 the multiple roughly twice. By 75 three times, …. Rough math but you get the idea.

I remember when Bush, Jr. proposed allowing people to opt for 10% of their SS deductions to go into the safest money market account of their choosing. There were several economists at that time who explained that if 100% of your SS deductions were put into such an account your monthly retirement checks starting at age 65 would be triple the amount of your SS checks in the status quo.
The Dems stopped it by saying it's a GOP plan to throw the elderly into poverty.

Senile boomers that have taken 10X more from SSA than they put in and need money on the side

that's just not true, it was the "greatest generation" that made out like bandits on social security. my dads generation (korean war) was the first generation pay in as much as they were paid out. the baby boomers and gen x are the first generation who will be paid out less than we paid in.

OMG! You poor poor patsy fool!

You really are neck-deep invested in the "Social Security is a retirement benefit" trope, aren't you though?

Let's take a look at your claim ... shall we?

---

The average worker pays ~$190K (today's dollars) into SS over a working lifetime. That $190K is matched by the employer. But make no mistake, both essentially come from the worker's paycheck. So an individual's overall contribution into SS is ~$380K

The average retiree receives ~$1900/m in SS paybacks. Meaning, the individual must live 200 months past full retirement eligibility age just to recoup the cost of contributions he/she put in. In other words, after retiring at full eligibility (age 66.5), one would have to collect SS until age 83 to simply recoup contributions, WITHOUT ANY ADDED INTEREST ON THE INVESTMENT!

To that, add in the fact that as of 2023, the life expectancy at birth for men in the United States was 75.8 years, while for women it was 81.1 years.

Now then, what was it you were saying?

---

ETA: There is but one beneficiary of Social Security. It is Uncle Sam.

They need the money and are getting paid to protest because they are too old to get a part time job.

Well, Trump supporters do tend to have Trump’s side profile. Big alabama fan type of overlap belly. A neck craw that looks like a shaved lil pretty hoohaw. It’s a real thing.

Well AARP is left leaning. They are always searching for ways their members can make a little extra skrilla!

70% of people who watch MSNBC and CNN are BOOMERS - that would explain it!

So 70% of a combined 1200 people?

Meh, I think maybe partially explains (barely).
