yep.
“ The measure is separate and not part of a package of three supplemental funding bills containing aid for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan as well as another so-called sidecar bill dealing with TikTok. ”
“ But congressional Republicans walked away from it early this year at the urging of GOP presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump, who was not supportive of the bill because he is centering his reelection campaign on immigration.
The chair of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, argued that the bill “isn’t quite H.R. 2.”
The bill is nearly identical to H.R. 2, but removes the mandate for employers to verify a worker’s immigration status and employment eligibility, and includes about $9 billion in grant programs for border states.”
Texas Republican Chip Roy agreed that the bill would not become law, and expressed his frustration that the GOP would not try to leverage foreign aid money for it.
“Republicans continue to campaign on securing the border and then refuse to use any leverage to actually secure the border,” Roy said. “We should get it signed into law but the only way to force Democrats to do it is to use leverage.”
senate republicans wanted to tie them together to get it passed.

we were coming our of a global pandemic that f’d everything. add trump and biden’s stimulus, energy went nuts (why biden opened up pumping more gas now than anyone in the history of the world), then add corporations raising prices way over inflation to screw us all. circumstance matters of the why. im just glad we’re back to where we are now. whatever the reason.

That’s one of the biggest lies. That bill was garbage, it was so bad even 7 democrats voted against it. Do some research instead of repeating Dem talking points.

Forbes - Inflation: Inflation has been far worse during the Biden administration, up 20.1% over the first 45 months of Biden’s term compared to 7.1% during Trump’s first 45 months

When Biden took office in 2021 inflation was not 8% and you know it.
Posted on 11/23/24 at 3:51 am to Kattail
never said that. was talking about its peak and where we are now.

Cause the Democrat anti-inflation bill worked so well. This is one of the problems with 1000 page bills, the masses just go by the name of the bill because no one is going to read it. So, Democrats name bills that they know the people support while the bill does totally unrelated stuff.

we were at 8% now we are at 2.6%. something worked. like pumping more gas than any country in the history of the world

why was it bad specifically. it was more or less the same bill.

Inflation is driven by injecting money into the economy. One way the federal government does this is through deficit spending, spending money it doesn’t have by borrowing or creating new funds. The math is clear: spending trillions of dollars you don’t have ultimately contributes to inflation, math is math.
A decline in the reported inflation rate doesn’t mean prices are decreasing; it simply means that prices are rising at a slower rate. The inflation percentage measures the rate of growth, not the actual price level. For instance, if an item cost $1.00 ten years ago and inflation was 4%, it would increase to $1.04 the following year. If that same item now costs $10.00 and inflation is 2%, its price still rises by $0.20 in a year. The percentage is lower, but the dollar increase is larger because the base price is higher.
This distinction is important when looking at the impact on everyday people. Inflation isn’t as important when wages grow proportionally with price increases. However, when wages fail to keep pace with inflation like what’s happening, people feel it.
For the average person, the real pain of inflation isn’t in percentages but in purchasing power. People experience inflation not as a rate of growth but as the erosion of what their income can buy, and right now people can buy a lot less than they could 4 years ago.

You are listening to a headline. That bill was strictly about enhancing the abilities to process them in faster and hiring more people to do it. Well that and even more money to Ukraine which has nothing to do with the border. Read and learn
