frick em.... a small percentage of oil coming thru Hormuz goes to the US.
We have plenty of oil. We shouldn't be policing the worlds oil needs.

It's understandable if we are receiving something worthwhile in return.... but, since it's the majority of Asian countries that are supplied by that oil, including China, not our fricking problem.

We should be restricting all oil flowing thru the Strait, pressuring other countries who benefit from Irans oil to step up and get involved.

I find it very interesting how much the people/places that were very vocal about "No Kings" and Dictators, are always so against removing any actual dictatorship, especially one that checks all the boxes of their trigger authoritarian phrases as Iran's government does.

It spiked to that before market open then immediately nose dived to a current 93.57 these 8 to 10 dollar daily swings are great.

Those folks are weak and allow themselves to be influenced by all the Marxist Dem and globalist propaganda.
This is the result of our children being taught that America is bad for the last 20 years. America is losing it's identity and national pride.

We should do that but if we do people need to be prepared to possibly have some ships hit and maybe lose a couple. I think that's the big issue of why we haven't. If Iran gets really lucky and sinks even one ship the public and news media here in the US would go on a tirade.

Cheer as the bed is made, every little step of the way. Then complain and act appalled when it’s time to sleep in it.

Would be funny if it weren’t so predictable.

Probably would. Getting hit is more likely than sunk because of damage control and likelihood it would be a drone rather than a missile. But there would also be hell to pay for Iran.

Again, some of you are referencing a different crude type than what the OP's article did.

Brent, the type discussed in the article, is still currently at $100.
WTI is currently at $94.

Doing something like this would cause oil prices for just about all crude types, including the WTI type we produce in the Permian, to go up.

Now...I'm not completely against your thought of other countries should have to help share the burden for the world to have reliable, flow assurance of oil. However, taking that strategy will cause prices to increase, and it will have an effect here at home, even if just temporarily.

When people talk about the price of Oil they are referring to the Brent Crude (most commonly cited globally).

Used to price about 60–70% of the world’s oil.

This is the benchmark most international news outlets refer to when they say “oil prices rose to $X per barrel.”

The reason someone would suddenly choose the lower index is for propaganda reasons.

This is confusing to me. But I admittedly don’t know the situation very well.

It's their way of destroying the petrol dollar. They hate the United States more than anyone in the world. Europe is our biggest enemy because they want our land. Everyone else doesn't. European elites would die to occupy the United States. It means they could finally conquer Russia.

Do we believe any of these other countries have the ability to escort ships through the strait for any length in time?

So cut off oil, and more importantly, LNG, to all of them. They’ll be begging Trump to let them help.
