Nike and Levis Strauss Political Business Strategy

From a pure economic/financial perspective this Nike branding campaign doesn’t make sense…. unless, you realize a much bigger picture. A hidden bigger picture.
On its face, it just seems absurd. Why would any major corporation intentionally stake out a branding position that is adverse to their financial interests?
quote:
This presents a dual risk. #1 there are likely to be tariffs on Chinese imports; and #2 there are current sanctions against any companies operating in North Korea.
A multinational company doing simultaneous business with ASEAN nations, China and North Korea for the majority of their manufacturing is extraordinarily exposed to the risks inherent within a U.S. -vs- China/DPRK trade reset.
A 20% drop in Nike value (based on current evaluations), as a result of branding themselves with controversial and political Kaepernick, is nothing compared to the staggering financial risk inherent within multi-billion manufacturing contracts that can become worthless overnight.
quote:
Therefore the Nike Company would be sympathetic to, and financially dependent on, alignment with the objectives of the Chinese Communist Party. In fact, with so much on the line, Chairman Xi Jinping would openly embrace and assist anti-U.S. endeavors around trade.
To that extent Beijing (the ultimate decision-maker and approval body) would willingly lower production costs to offset any drops in U.S. revenue for parent corporation, Nike. A rather interesting quid-pro-quo.
And that answers the question: “Why would any major corporation intentionally stake out a branding position that is adverse to their financial interests?”
They, wouldn’t; and they didn’t.
The Nike political branding position is reconciled when you look at the bigger picture and see where the real financial risk aligns. The Nike economic decision is to align with China, and by extension North Korea, for a position of mutual benefit. It is all about the proverbial $$$$ and Nike’s best financial play is to mitigate risk and assist Communist China in their trade strategy.
China is willing to subsidize Nike (lower production costs), and replace any dropped revenue, in exchange for mutually beneficial political opposition against Trump and by extension his policies that are a risk to Beijing. As a result there is minimal financial risk to the Nike Corporation.
And with the current multinational Wall Street agenda now being confronted, we should not expect this approach to stop at Nike. Likely, many more multinational (globalist) corporations, specifically those in the apparel sector, will stake out a similar position.
Remember, there are TRILLIONS at stake.
quote:
The multinational Wall Street firms are aligning with domestic political positions that align with Democrats. The agenda is to defeat the trade reset; however, they, in this example Levi Strauss, cannot openly side with China and Asia against the United States. So they do it covertly by supporting domestic political opposition toward the President who is threatening the construct of their multinational business model.
Both Nike and Levi Strauss stand to retain their current level of benefit if President Trump is blocked from instituting America-First trade and manufacturing policies. Supporting gun control (Levi Strauss) or supporting BLM/Antifa (Nike) is simply a tool to support political opposition.
Can you see what’s happening?

It’s an interesting theory. I think it’s more easily explained by marketing firms based in elite coastal cities that are run by limousine liberals that are contracted with companies run by limousine liberals from elite universities where they were steeped in nonsense.

Admittedly I’d need to see more evidence and examples before 100% believing in what they’re implying here, but what they posit does make sense of otherwise questionable moves from Nike. I’m not sure which way Occam’s razor leans in this instance.
It would be a horrendous business decision considering the risk of alienating roughly half of the biggest consumer market in the world, not to mention having the onus of “aiding the enemy” hanging over your brand for no telling how long.

They want to play on a class warfare. Make Nike hated by older people which makes it seem cooler with the younger crowd.

The strategy of Nike is focused on the 14 to 22 year old consumer, and global markets . These two market elements are overwhelmingly anti- Trump. Keep in mind this kneeling to protest police violence against black men in which Trump co-opted this minor protest and turned it into a patriotism anti military / country / NFL issue to divide the country. Trump blew this up to divide and had been successful. Dictators attack institutions which is what our stupidnprez did.

This post is like the text version of those pictures you see of people addicted to drugs over time, where they start fairly normal and end up ravaged by them. Except in this case it’s TDS.

They bet on 7 billion pair of feet around the world, and on the biggest buyers of shoes which are urban kids from the ages of 14-22. If you figure that about 40% of people in the US support Trump that is about 132 million pair of feet or 2% of global shoe market. This is the calculus of how a global brand looks at this in addition to making a statement that Trump should STFU about trying to diminish the NFL on a co-opted and making an unnecessary attack on a protest about racial profiling of black men and turning it into a respect our soldiers issue.

They (Nike and Levis) are siding with Democrats and U.S. Chamber of Commerce GOPe Republicans to have advocates in DC to continue to have cheap labor in NK under Chinese camouflage and help reduce the risk of tariffs on Chinese goods.
Taking the Kaepernick and Second Amendment routes appeals to the Democrat side and resistance to Trump. If Trump and his America First policies can be removed the LARGEST threat to Nike and Levis business models can be removed...which are 1. tariffs on Chinese goods, and 2. sanctions on companies that employ dirt cheap NK labor (Nike and Levis currently use NK labor under the camouflage of China).
Taking a 20% hair cut in the short term is a small price to pay if Trump can be removed and Nike and Levis long term business model of no to low Chinese tariffs and super cheap slave labor can be maintained.

So urban youths were gonna stop buying shoes without the aid of Kaepernick and his make believe social issue? They ostracized a large demo with $$$ to secure a market they already had cornered
There’s something else at work here

Wait just one damn minute....
Aren't these poor youth the ones who also go to bed hungry each night? That rob, steal, and loot because the government forgot about them or doesn't care? How the hell do they afford $200 shoes?
