Actually I hope he uses the massive income from these initial lawsuits to financially ruin the individual media and political personalities named by his lawyers above.

He can literally destroy some of these people with simple massive perpetual legal fees.

The kid is getting money but I would seriously doubt this settlement is massive as everyone is making out to be.

It’s obviously not $250M. How much do you think it is?

Doesn’t even count the money he got from CNN.... and the dude is going to college. For what?

Did he get $250 million?

I know that's what he requested in damages, but if they settled it was likely for less.

Regardless, he will never have to work a day in his life.

I’m not a lawyer, so I don’t have any knowledge on this topic. Tell me why you think the settlement was not as big as people are making it out to be.

What range are you thinking? $1 million? $10 million?

I believe this makes both CNN and WaPo which have settled with Sandmann out of court. At some point, I hope that he and his lawyers will take some media outlet to court so they will be forced to answer publicly for what they did to this kid.

Wouldn't it be the ultimate irony if this kid grew up and used some of his money to help create a reputable news organization?

Hopefully with the right people helping him manage the proceeds, this kid will never HAVE to work a day in his life, might even be able to buy the WAPO for scrap in a year or two with just the earned interest.

really? I know nothing about this sort of thing, I was thinking smaller like the other guys said.

I know you ask for the huge number so what your really want looks small.

They sued a total of 8 organizations. They have settled with 2 and 6 more to go.

He's settled with CNN and the Washington Post, both extremely large and rich companies.

I would be shocked if it was less than $5 million per company so far. Could be less for the others.

The other companies appear to be Twitter, New York Times, NBC/MSNBC, CBS, Gannett and Rolling Stone, although I have seen other companies mentioned in various media reports.

Considering his attorney probably takes 40 percent, let's assume he gets between $1 million and $10 million per company.

That would be a net amount of between $5 million and $48 million, after legal fees.

I will assume the amounts are not uniform, so my guess is he gets around a combined total of $50 million and nets around $30 million.

In the arena of public opinion a settlement is an admission of guilt. Once they make any offer at all they're all in on getting that non-disclosure agreement. There's no way Lin Wood would've given that up for chump change.

It's rumored that he's settling for 10% of what he is asking.
