I was there for Mardi Gras and it just felt palpably safer
Large events, especially high media profile events, will always be safer considering the city is trying to bring in tourism dollars and this is broadcasted across the world.
Once the cameras go off, NO becomes NO. Hell, Latoya cancelled the cleaning contract at the quarter once Mardi gras was over. Once Jazzfest ends, expect things to go back to the violent normal.

Does this conveniently coincide with the super bowl and mardi gras where they actually have enough police for the city?

Things have been a lot quieter for the last two years.

Who gets the credit for this?
People like me telling people like you that defunding the police is retarded.
Common sense wins again.

If they are arresting the worst of the worst, then it will have an impact.
They figured this out in Richmond about 40 years ago. Target the 15% of criminals committing 85% of the crime and put them away for long sentences.
Unfortunately, it is very istophobic, as it turns out.

Some observations:
1) This is great news and a great start
2) So far, the majority of the numbers come from an event that was completely preventable, and admitted as such by the Chief
3) Appears we have feds involved doing the dirty work. Past time this happened.
4) While great news, comparing numbers to one of your worst years and lauding them......there was only one direction this all should have gone. I'll be happy when this is a consistent finding and the numbers drop year over year

I'm still not moving to New Orleans, blondie. You can move there, though. Good luck.

the french qtr has been arse for 30yrs. I just spent 2 weeks in new orleans for jazzfest. walked around @ 3am going to shows. Parked my truck all over the city. Didnt have one issue. it's a dangerous city but most big cities in the US are. It's still a great place to visit when you do it correctly.

Ready to admit you lied about Trayvon martin being shot and killed by police?
I find it weird that you STILL won’t admit you lied about something that is so easily proven to be a lie.
What's the story here?

While this is true, NOLA is dangerous even by "big" city standards.
However, its also ok to admit that it has been a lot better than the chaos that it had descended into after Covid

i lumped trayvon martin in with unjust police killings last week and he's been following me in every thread i post in bitching about it. pretty unhinged, but typical poli board incel behavior.

So, to be precise, you DON’T actually think that?

Crime is down, that’s good.
The reason? The 9mm boys are bailing out to Houston and Memphis. If they weren’t leaving crime would be the same. Flat footed (well intended) “Task Forces” don’t accomplish much.
