And that was awesome for them to elect him if that is what they wanted, but his office was eliminated by the Louisiana Legislature. It doesn't matter if 100% of the voters voted for him, there is no Criminal Clerk of Court office for him to hold now.

The legislature could have handled it a little different and grandfathered the winner in until their term was complete due to the timing of the election cycles, but they chose not to do that. If it wasn't an election year the person in that office would no longer have an office to hold either.

Now with Moreno, it is incredibly arrogant for her to think she is going to get a one-on-one meeting with the Governor, while the Murrill situation is going down. Moreno and company should have thought a little harder about what their priorities were before they went down the road they went down.

Because you don't need to be a Mensa candidate to figure out that indicting the Attorney General was a bad idea, especially when that AG was the solicitor general when the current governor was AG.

Moreno could have 100% shut down the 3 ring circus leading up to the indictment. She didn't, she let it happen because they didn't get their way and were having to answer to the AG, the Legislature, and the LASC. Something only a group of people who thinks they are special would pull.

A typical democrat strategy, we don't get our way, we will F you three ways to Sunday, but we will also expect you to work with us like nothing is wrong. That is until we are back in power.....

That's nice and all, but that position has existed only by the will of the state legislature. That will changed, so the office was dissolved.

Could they have timed it better? Sure. But they didn't and all the whining about it isn't going to change things. Trying to fill a non-existent position makes it worse and then trying to bloviate a legal warning into some sort of "threat" is even worse than that.

And this is all especially true when the city is broke and was hoping to get some sort of lifeline from the state.
