Dylan Ligier, 14, is a freshman at Morris Jeff Community School. Joseph Ligier, Dylan's father, told WWL-TV his son has has gender dysphoria since he was a young child.  Joseph said his son has gotten nothing but support from his school. "He had started transitioning a while ago, then stopped," Joseph says. "But he said, if he wins, he is going to use this to overcome his fear, and continue transitioning. I have always known, and he is still using the pronoun him. He's is so well-liked because he's so kind, and it's made it easier to be accepting."

This is sad on multiple levels. It's so tragic the disservice we are doing to these children by enabling these behaviors.

It's moronic that these schools are doing this just to buck convention. Under no circumstances should a fricking freshman be homecoming queen.

If the school were only giving him a title, that would be bad enough. But they are going beyond that and encouraging him to embrace his mental illness and celebrate it.

So will the homecoming king slow dance with it at the dance after the game?

The patriarchy is sneakily taking away awards that empower women

A (supposedly) straight guy got enough votes to win homecoming queen after a ballot mistake at my HS.

Whoever vetted the names of everyone in the class saw his first name and assumed he was a she, including him on the ballot by mistake, and everyone voted for him.

Fortunately / unfortunately, they figured out what happened and did a new run of ballots after after getting complaints that some gals had been left off the ballot by accident too.

So I guess "gender dysphoria" just falls out the sky and the environment created for him by his parents had nothing to do with it. Why do the parents always get a pass when it comes to these things?

I'm all for adults choosing how they want to live their own lives, but

How many years have this kid's parents enabled his mental illness? I get you want to make your kid happy, but as a parent it's also your job to make the hard decisions your kid can't so that they benefit in the long run. Sure, it may make your kid happy when they're 7-8 years old to play another gender, but in the long run of their lives what will benefit them more: living as their own gender or pretending? Do the suicide statistics of transgender people not mean anything?

It sounds like his dad encouraged the entire process.

Like I said in the last thread. I’d bet money that the students voted the freak in as a joke.

We voted a gay kid as homecoming queen when I was in hs. Although the school shut that down with the quickness
