Council-appointed local School Boards

these turn into a situation where the council/commission control the boards through strong arm tactics BUT throw their hands up when approached by citizens as not having anything to do with the appointed board...

It also lets the City/County get their hands on school money as well... bad idea all the way around...

My counter argument to this would be the Birmingham City Schools Board of Education, where it is clear that electing the Board is causing that system to be totally dysfunctional.

I'm not defending GOP weakness by any means, but it's so much easier to do whatever the hell you want when you control all means of media at every level. We're not even talking Dan Rather being liberal for 30 minutes every night- every means of information distribution are dominated by DNC agents. Unless you seek out conservative-driven media, which no one except for those who are already conservative does, it's as if the counter-info does not exist.

And, because of this control, they can make issues out of thin air. They want an Asian hate crime epidemic? Coronavirus? Insurrection? You can get it by end of week.

This is the weakness of our constitution. The only thing that can possibly undo any of this is for things to get so bad that even normies can tangibly feel and see that what the media says isn't necessarily true, and not in a "golly gee gas and food prices sure are high" because the programming is so strong they will listen when the media offers "But the Dems will fix it".

You can't make chicken salad out of chicken shite... You think a board appointed by Birmingham would be better?

I doubt it could be worse. At the very least, they should move to city-wide elections, at least for the school board, instead of district specific. They are truly harming their children.

Honestly, this governor has really been overlooked. She may be the most dictatorial of all the governors, and that’s saying something. Only Whitmer can compare as far as being a dictator is concerned.

If this is the case, which I do not doubt, there is a mechanism for the State Board to step in and take over the system...

They have done that within the last 10 years. If they were to do it again this soon, you know what the mantra would be.

Yep, and it doesn’t seem to matter if they’re right or wrong. Assuming she has the legal power to do this there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it, but they’ll also be hypocritical as hell and smile as they do it. Whatever it takes to get their shitty agenda through, they’ll do.

New Mexico Democrat Gov Grisham Disbands School

From what I've read, the New Mexico Public Education Department suspended the board for not following the governor's order.

Did the Department act on behalf of the governor?

Doing it explicitly because of that and doing it implicitly because of that have the same effect.

Disbanding the board as part of this is a major fricking step and wouldn't be done without someone putting pressure somewhere.

I can find articles saying she is threatening to do this, but none saying she has already done it. Can you provide a link?

I did find out that she recently had to settle a lawsuit with a staffer for grabbing his crotch without consent. You know, exactly what Dems got angry at Trump for talking about doing with consent.

Governor dissolves entire school board, effective immediately. Governor says the move is permanent, not a temporary suspension.

Why aren’t republicans doing this to school boards who teach CRT?

The people in the area need to protest. Any school board appointed is invalid and in opposition to democracy. Get them in front of the cameras. Where are the conservative pundits?

Lujan Grisham has been a disaster for NM school kids, not to mention their economy. My son lost an opportunity to work at a Scout ranch in NM last summer due to her shutdowns (other national BSA high adventure camps in MN, WV and FL continued on). Seven student athletes in NM committed suicide between July-September of last year, including a promising HS quarterback dealing with shutdowns in Hobbs NM, while a few miles away in TX football continued on. Grisham banned contact sports for the entire fall, so dismantling a school board is not surprising for her.

Here's a long article about a very sad story. Kooper Davis
