It’s like everyone in the small group at the FBI knew CNN was ready to release the dossier info. CNN was just waiting for Comey to meet with Trump and inform Trump about the dossier.

“Just an FYI, and as expected, it seems CNN is close to running a story about the sensitive reporting.” On Jan. 10, CNN published a story headlined, “Intel chiefs presented Trump with claims of Russian efforts to compromise him.” The same day, BuzzFeed News published the contents of the “Steele dossier.”
Sen. Johnson’s letter to FBI Director Wray about all of this also asks for details about President-elect Trump’s briefing and communications between Comey and Clapper.
Clapper reportedly told Congress he never discussed the Steele dossier or any other intelligence related to Russia election interference with journalists. However, Clapper subsequently reportedly acknowledged discussing the dossier with CNN journalist Jake Tapper, and admitted that he might have spoken with other journalists about it.”

This is such an odd statement. If I go meet with my boss, and I were to memorialize the meeting afterwards, I wouldn't use that language. Now if I was doing something with a hidden motive, such as recording him in secret or setting up something that benefitted me at his expense, it would make more sense. What I take from it is that Comey planned out this meeting with Trump for reasons other than simply informing him of the dossier. Well, now know that they purpose of the meeting was to give CNN a news hook to run with the dossier.
IMO, Comey and the rest of these clowns thought their plan would work and they would be able to drive Trump out of office. Comey wasn't memorializing the meeting for use as future evidence. He was bragging. He never imagined these memos would ever come to light. This memo was simply a way for Comey to relive the glorious moment when he helped drive Trump from office.

Excellent point about Comey bragging.
And just think how much good these people could have done focusing on real crimes like school shootings instead of spending so much time and resources trying to unseat our duly elected president.

1. The press was OK with the republic ending because they liked their position as house slaves for the Dems.
Christ, Biden’s team made some of them go sit in the closet to get out of the way at one point and they did it without complaining.
2. Even if Hillary campaigned, I think she was screwed.
She was a godawful, unlikeable, tone deaf candidate whose message was blatantly against the people who became critical for Trump, blue collar whites.
If not for the perception that she was inevitably going to win, and the Dems’ dirty tricks to keep her afloat, she’d have collapsed in the primary vs Bernie and not even made it to the general election.
