Now, to be fair, the sentence reading was somewhat recent, but the full context is completely lost to the headline reader.
Girl killed by asylum seeker. Really? From POLAND? And killed, via auto accident, not murdered.
No mention that her grandparents, the father's parents, were also killed.
Back in 2013.
Why would anyone seek asylum from Poland? Sounds suspicious, right? And why leave out 3 died, not just the little girl.

Exactly. It's all ragebait for clicks. Can still get the same response if the full context is given from the start. People weren't paying attention that far back so good to see more examples of what is needed to be fixed.

Certainly not cheap rage bait.
In summary, it was a traffic accident. Negligence, not intentional action. Further, the initial sentence was quickly increased to 15 months in jail, plus loss of driving privileges upon release.

The prosecutor appealed after a public outcry, and he was resentenced to 15 months. He fled the country, but was extradited back to the Netherlands in 2016 to serve out his sentence.
