New Zealand is a member of the Commonwealth. If Israel so much as lays as finger on the Kiwis, the U.K. and the rest of the Commonwealth nations would intervene and Israel would be destroyed within the year.

Mossad has been known to use stolen New Zealand passports in the past, one of the reasons that New Zealand introduced this resolution. Israel loves pissing off random countries.

So did the United States. Our abstaining was the same as voting yes, other than leaving us with wiggle room and allow us to use weasel words.
The effect is the same. We knew what was in it, we negotiated with the authors of it and we told them we would allow it to pass.

War isn't always boots on the ground.
If Israel's intelligence has something disruptive to New Zealand's government or its interests it may use that now.
To give an example from fiction, the Thunderbolts team from Marvel comics once had a problem with a foreign dictatorship. After things didn't progress, one member of the team transmitted the dictator's cabinet footage of the dictator sleeping with many of their wives. The problem solved itself shortly afterward though the survival of the dictator was in doubt.

NZ is part of FVEY so they'd be targeting a part of our network too. But we don't have to pretend this hasn't already been happening for a long time.
