Netanyahu seeks to draw Trump into future attack on Iranian nuclear sites

Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed that, with Donald Trump’s support, his government will “finish the job” of neutralising the threat from Iran, amid US reports that Israel is considering airstrikes against Iranian nuclear sites in the coming few months.
Trump has said he would prefer to make a deal with Tehran, but also made clear that he was considering US military action if talks failed, and his administration has laid down an early maximalist demand: Iranian abandonment of its entire nuclear programme.
“All options are on the table,” the US national security adviser, Michael Waltz, told Fox News on Sunday. The new administration will only talk to Iran, Waltz added, if “they want to give up their entire programme and not play games as we’ve seen Iran do in the past in prior negotiations”.
Earlier this month, Trump offered the Iranian regime a stark choice.
“I would like a deal done with Iran on non-nuclear,” he told the New York Post. “I would prefer that to bombing the hell out of it.”

Seems reasonable.

Sure, as long as it's Israel doing the bombing and not us.

Not our problem. If Israel wants to remain in Middle East they will have to deal with Middle Eastern countries not us.

I want a shirt that says "Hard Rocked Iran" with a mushroom cloud.

I didn’t know this until recently, but Lehi tried to murder Harry Truman when he was president. They sent him a number of mail bombs.
If they were involved in killing Kennedy, that would be the third US president the Israelis targeted.

You realize we support Israel because they are the one country that the Middle East hates more than us. Basically, we support Israel so we don't have to deal with ME directly. Is that what you'd prefer?

We support Israel, because Israel has bought or blackmailed everyone that matters in DC

Last I checked, Saudi Arabia (you know country we have bases in and US/Russia folks just met in), Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Djibouti, Syria, Iraq and UAE all have US bases in their countries…so we deal with them directly Einstein.

I’d give Israel the green light to do whatever they need to do, but make it clear they shouldn’t bite off more than they can chew bc the US is not getting embroiled in another ME war.

Brilliant…so when has this actually ever occurred?

The Guardian sure does try to use Israel to create friction with Trump supporters.

that's always been the objective for israel. Let the americans fight their wars for them

It’s a vocal minority of Trump supporters who have all this pent up anger and resentment toward Israel. Easily.

Unfortunately thanks to Carter, we broke it, so bought the problem. Especially when you add on all the crap Obama and Biden, did to help them out. Trump had them in the ropes his first term.
Them having nukes is a world problem, so unfortunately an US problem. I just hope we go in, and take care of it quickly. No lingering BS.

I’m sure we have a bunch of new weapons we need to test out to let the rest of the world know to not frick around with us!!! Let’s go!!!

Love everything trump is doing except this blind allegiance to Isreal. They are not our friends. History tells us this. I'm sorry, they need the Ukraine treatment.

This doesn't make sense. If everyone hates Israel, then why should we join them and make everyone hate us more?
We have to deal with the ME all the time. Do you think we ask the Israeli PM to do oil or weapon deals for us with Saudi Arabia?
Why did we spend 20 years in Iraq and Afghanistan if our support of Israel means they will deal directly with the ME for us?
What I'd prefer is we stay out of ME politics. If one of them attacks us, then we annihilate them. We use our trade power to work with willing countries and let the rest rot.
All Israel does is get us involved in more conflicts.
