They are a militarily sophisticated nuclear power just like Pakistan. They likely don't need to be told how to defend themselves by us. And by saying this it gives the US an out should they have to crush their neighbors to the north. It's a win, win.

They don't have a means for taking a ground fight to anyone beyond their own borders. They have a strong defense.
What this really means is that they think our campaign in Iran has been successful and that we have eliminated the need for them to project strength beyond their borders. We took out the regions shite stirrers. Iran has always been the problem. Not anymore.
