What are the lies? The timing of dates and that if Obama ever knew?

Backfires how? I dont think it backfired at all, sounds like a wishlist for NBC, not a report on reality, as usual.

Yep.

And I am always insisting in notes to myself that I am going “by the book.”

It comes off as disingenuous at best or gives the impression that she is dirty as hell in all her other dealings.

Not one mention that the email, which was sent to herself, is 15 days after the meeting and right before the inauguration. It’s an CYA email after the fact, and after inappropriate actions by the FBI to spy on a rival campaign by the Obama Admin.

A three-year-old interview clip of former National Security Adviser Susan Rice resurfaced Tuesday after the declassified email she sent to herself on the final day of the Obama administration was released.

During an April 2017 appearance on PBS News Hour, Rice was asked about the then-breaking revelations about members of President Trump's transition team having been surveilled before he took office.

"In the last few hours, we've been following a disclosure by the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Devin Nunes, that in essence, during the final days of the Obama administration, during the transition after President Trump had been elected, that he and the people around him may have been caught up in surveillance of foreign individuals and their identities may have been disclosed. Do you know anything about this?" PBS anchor Judy Woodruff asked.

"I know nothing about this," Rice said at the time. "I was surprised to see reports from Chairman Nunes on that count today."

In her sworn testimony, ... Sally Yates said only she, Obama and Comey were in that meeting.

How could Susan Rice relate the conversation between Obama and Comey if she was not there? .... Either Yates lied when she said Rice was not present, or Rice’s CYA memo is not simply self serving, but is setting out an obvious cover for Obama himself ....

So she sends herself a " By the Book " email the Day of Trumps Inauguration about a meeting that took place two weeks prior . Yea , totally believable .

Seems like a good reason to bring both Yates and Rice under oath and see how their stories change.

Ya know, if Justice were a REAL thing in this country, a great many "Journalists" would be standing side by side with their Democrat Politician friends on the gallows steps.

I'm sure the MSM would treat it as the Gospel truth if anyone in the Trump administration sent themselves an email stating that Trump had handled the coronavirus response by the book and had done everything right. No doubt that we would be reading articles about how the democrats attempts to manufacture a scandal out of a textbook response to the virus has blown up in their face.

As Johnson noted, that email... referenced details of an Oval Office meeting from Jan. 5, 2017, in which then-President Barack Obama and his team discussed, among other things, Flynn and his misconduct.

[sarcasm]No bias here.[/sarcasm]

quote:

Rice's email, sent in the interest of memorializing her concerns in an official record, said Obama wanted to be sure "every aspect of this issue is handled by the Intelligence and law enforcement communities 'by the book.'" The email, written shortly before Trump's inauguration added, "[Obama] stressed that he is not asking about, initiating or instructing anything from a law enforcement perspective. He reiterated that our law enforcement team needs to proceed as it normally would by the book."

The newly declassified portion discloses that Comey, the then-FBI director, confirmed that federal law enforcement was proceeding "by the book," though he had concerns about Flynn's frequent and problematic communications with the country that had just attacked the U.S. elections.

Remember, the point of this week's disclosures, from the perspective of Ron Johnson and other Republicans, was to make Susan Rice and the Obama administration look bad. Except the gambit has now backfired: the Rice email GOP partisans were so eager to disclose shows an Obama team doing everything right, while also casting Flynn -- the disgraced former general whose reputation Republicans are trying to rescue -- in a deeply unflattering light.

So despite sending literally a last minute email from her government email to her personal email to memorialize a meeting that had occurred 15 days earlier, Comey confirmed that the FBI would proceed "by the books."

So, there you have it. Nuttin to see here. Move along.

Why would Obama insist this investigation was “by the book?”

Were the other investigations “not by the book?”
