Natchez suffers from being isolated,.
I guess they’re not able to leverage their Mississippi River location without being on an interstate
There was recent talk about an I-14 being built to run east to west from Austin, TX to South Carolina that would go through Natchez.
probably a pipe dream at this point, but something like that would help

I see your angle.
...but, no, I’m neither. And I have nothing against old money. I believe if you earn it, you keep it. That’s capitalism and free enterprise. Buuuuttt, I have been living in this area my whole life. I’ve seen the garden club members say time after time when I was a kid that they hated IP and were gonna get it shut down because the smell discourages tourism. Ive seen people in despair throw their hands up bc real industry has been turned down or discouraged from coming to Natchez when they tried to build something there. It’s all about old money wanting to stay in POWER. They don’t want Natchez to grow, they just want it to be a tourism Mecca. Look at what Natchez has invested money in the past 25 years... NOT INDUSTRY. Unless you count prisons and providing a landfill/dumping ground for northern states industrial waste... So... yes, I do have a decent idea what’s going on and has gone on in Natchez. It has had opportunities to become a Hattiesburg, but chose to stay a Greenville. And people on both sides of the river have suffered and had to move away from their homes because of it. I’ve lived through it and still am. I thank God everyday I’m one of the few blessed enough to have one of the few great jobs around here.
