Bingo. The premiums for fraternity houses are normally 20-25x more than than anything else on campus.

At many institutions Greek life cannot exist without hazing, and that's a problem. I support them kicking these shitheads off campus, because in a couple years when they come back, they will be forced to modernize their practices and treat people more like human beings and less like cattle.

And FWIW I was in a social fraternity while at Alabama.

Progressivism seeks to REPLACE existing American traditions, principles, ideals and Institutions with Progressive orthodoxy. Think of any tradition or Institution that has any semblance of Conservatism attached to it, and it is likely to be under relentless attack. Progressivism is insatiably destructive, it wrecks everything it touches. Greek life is therefore on it's way out, since Progressives control Academia.

Stress and shared accomplishment build unit cohesion.

That’s what the military teaches us.

And that’s the problem. A fraternity that doesn’t haze is unlikely to build the same sort of bonds as one that does. It’s unlikely to be as successful, as a consequence.

And it seems like every reform chapter goes back to the status quo ante bellum, within five to seven years of refounding.

And THAT is the problem. Fraternities rose in popularity in a time of war, so of course that is how their customs were made. And besides, why the frick would you want drunk idiots treating younger drunk idiots like they are new military recruits? What good does making them drink until they get sick, burning them with irons, beating them with bats, or stripping them naked and humiliating them do?

In my 20 years in higher education, I would guess that white Greek life is 90% conservative.
Yeah, but those are the conservatives who grow up to give conservatism a bad name.

It’s shared stress, and it creates real bonds within the pledge class. It also gives them a sense of sacrifice, I endured this to become a brother, so they value being a brother more.

That’s why hazing persists.

The younger chapters are probably more dangerous in this regard. They have fewer traditions, and more to prove. So they’ll engage in far more dangerous behavior.

Progs want to kill anything that promotes masculinity or any type of male exclusive club. Especially frats since they're composed 98% of upper middle class white men.

True, but what it is needs to change, or there will be no Greek life left in 10 years. Universities aren't letting shite go like they used to, they are totally liable for everything that happens, and very concerned with how they are perceived by current and prospective students and their families.

It's one of the few avenues in which it is totally acceptable to have a gender-exclusive organization; I'll go with yes,

You’d have more fun playing a club sport than joining a neutered fraternity.

I'm a little too old for either, but I get your point. Still, I think true fraternal bonds are an essential part of an effective society. Everything can't be inclusive, otherwise we have to start making exceptions and rules that kill cohesiveness.

If this moronic way of thinking is what's under attack then I'll gladly support the attackers.
