I don't care about how well he debates.

If he can;t even debate, how's he going to convince other congressman to vote for his positions? He'll get bowled over on the Hill.

Senators

As opposed to all those wonderful things that Mary has been able to get done.

Truth is, she has been there for 18 years. That is enough.

I love and respect my father beyond words. But, I'd NEVER vote for him to serve more than 2 terms.

I'd vote (were I a LA registered voter) for Cassidy because:

1) He is NOT the incumbent
2) At MINIMUM, he helps assure gridlock
3) He has a chance to beat Mary (see #1)
4) I personally know and respect him

This! I think it's a turn off when a political person has all the right memorized rhetoric. You know that person is good because they have lied for so long. Obama has all the pretty talk in debates, how'd that work out in real life action?

You do realize there's a difference between performing for a camera, and one on one interaction?

Not really. If he can;t handle himself using elementary debate skills his persuasive skills are seriously questionable.

If nothing else comes of this race I hope Louisiana republicans wake up and understand how poorly the party is run in the state.

Cassidy is the supported nominee because all the republican power centers in the state decided he would be. The Vitter crowd didn't fight with the Jindal crowd to over Cassidy. He was an acceptable candidate to both.

We could have done much better--Strain, Scalise, even Dardenne--could be mopping the floor with Landrieu. All of those guys would have been objectionable to one power center of the other.

It's a damn shame we have a republican governor who got over 60% of the vote that cannot even campaign in his home state today.

It's a damn shame we have a republican senator who has all kinds of skeletons in his closet that cannot even campaign for another republican in the state. He even wants to be governor and is forcing good candidates to sit on the bench as he takes his turn.

Really dumb comment. Have you ever seen a very successful company have and owner that doesn't do well when making commercials or public speaking forums? I have. But it takes NO credibility away from their ability to run the hell out of a successful company.

Agreed, I'm looking for the opposite of a verbally polished politician. I don't know what you people are talking about anyway. He looked fine. He answered the questions and seemed very straightforward with them. The medical marijuana question was a tough one but he answered it.

Forget his public speaking ability. Tell me why I as a small government conservative should vote for Cassidy.

He has spent million and I still don't know a compelling reason to vote for him besides he is not Mary.

Please tell me the message.

He's running for senate, a job that requires public speaking skills.

Not only does he look like a comedy sketch parody but not once has he said why he wants to be senator. I mean we all know why... To take out a Dem senator and he was the anointed one... But why does he want yo be senator. He doesn't seem to know. He just flails.

Madness is by far a better candidate.

I don't think Cassidy could answer your question. Don't expect anyone else here to.

THIS! He's running on "Mary Landrieu is Barack Obama and I'm not Mary Landrieu". I don't want to vote for "not Mary Landrieu" (I will if that's the only choice provided to me). I want to vote for someone with a plan. Someone with some ideas. I think Cassidy's plan to raise the SS age isn't a bad one. I like the fact that he came out against medicinal marijuana.
What's his opinion on the NSA?
What's his opinion on the size and role of government?
What does he plan to do regarding the IRS scandal?
What's his opinion on the patriot act (also, I'd like to know Maness's opinion on this as well)?

We know Cassidy's not Mary Landrieu. I want to know who Bill Cassidy really is. I guess I can always shoot Lane Grigsby an email and ask him.

For better or worse, Not-Mary is better than anything Mary can offer at this point.

I suppose I could say, he's not as offputting as Woody Jenkins, Suzie Terrell, or John Kennedy. So, I guess there's that.

LaGop, the entire state party central committee, Roger Villere, Bobby Jindal and David Vitter should be put on a train to political purgatory for doing so little with so much opportunity.

No leadership among the state party at all. Jindal and Vitter hate each other. The central committee and Roger are jokes.

There has to be a republican out there that could stomp Mary.

Valuing persuasive skills would indicate that you believe that congress operates on the concept of open minds debating facts to develop policies for the common good of all Americans.

Seems to be a pre-determined lib talking point. You can tell by the same buzzwords repeated ad nauseum. He could have cured cancer in the debate and they'd still be saying the same thing.

does it even matter how he came across...Landrieu cast the deciding vote for obamacare against the will of her constituents...then she dared them not to re-elect her

"i's bringin in da ole moneys, ya'll need me"

that loathsome count is gone...hopefully her brother will get ebola and LA can be rid of those fricking weasels

Mary wouldn't allow standing. She's only 4-11.

My golfing partner saw the debate. He said there was no clear winner. He said the questions were fair but the answers were rote.

He especially criticized Mary for just going to her laundry list of all the accomplishments she has achieved for La. Her talking points had nothing to do with the question.

I beat him by 10 strokes today. Zach was on his game this morning.

If Louisiana votes mary Landrieu back to the senate, then LA is hopelessly fricked.
