My fear of weaponized AI is the use against society

We all hear of AI as an ambiguous thing that will help humans in healthcare, work etc. Many of us can’t fathom the change that a very strong AI will have on us in a good and bad ways.
While we have heard of weaponized AI and it’s use on the battlefield, I feel a much scarier use could be used to subvert society of an enemy. Much as we have seen cyberwarfare impact our everyday elections (and our uses against our enemies) imagine this:
China is working hard to be the preeminent AI leader by 2030. This is a country that has already used a credit system to rank you as a person in society. Imagine them perfecting this in an AI and then teaching a weaponized version to hack into every service used by Americans. Facebook, google, even the NSA could be vulnerable to a “perfect” AI hacker who can then compile information about everyone and their e-footprints.
Even if you think you cover your tracks (not logged into a service, use VPN etc) you leave breadcrumbs that if an AI had all these separate pieces of information could follow the ip’s back to an ISP and to you.
Imagine this being unleashed on the US populace where every detail of your life is visible and opened to everyone. This would breakdown the social structure of the entire country.
We are at the precipice of a new era where every single person could be a target of a strong AI.
Think outside the box a bit of what this world will look like if we don’t safeguard and impose laws that give users the right to erase as much as they can from the services on the internet.
Once this genie is out, there is no going back. :insertWillSmithGenieGif:

Just stay away from Sarah Conner and you'll be safe for a few years...well, until Skynet is given full control.

Actual discussion would be welcomed

what is your definition of 'cyberwarfare'?
if sharing thoughts and ideas on the internet is 'cyberwarfare' then we have a problem because it is warfare protected by the first amendment

Believe it or not misinformation and manipulation is a form of cyberwarfare.
Yes Russia, China and the big players on the main stage of the world use this, just like we do.

I mean. It would out the pieces of shite, sure.
I don't use social media and I have nothing to hide from friends and family.
I fail to see how the details of my electronic life out in the open changes much. But it would sure as hell rock the political landscape. I'd welcome that. Americans are resilient. And tend to bounce back extremely well after tragedy and hard ship.

Bank account information, logins, etc. If you don't care. Go ahead and post.
It amazes me that people take the "well I don't do anything bad" approach to a surveillance state and what that information can do to every one of us.

All of this has happened before and it will happen again.

AI is already being weaponized against populations through social media. Fake bot accounts are used to spread propaganda and AI algorithms are used to promote certain viewpoints and bury others. The result is a manipulative image that support for one point of view is broad and monolithic while opposing views are sparse and only occupied by the most uncouth among us. AI is a big part of the SJW movement.

that's been around forever in the form of propaganda
except for censorship (which our society has deemed unacceptable), there aren't really any practical solutions

This is all very true although it is in its infancy. It requires a human directing programs and those algorithms.
Things will get much much worse when these mature.

This is a deeper discussion than the exchange of ideas. I agree that we shouldn't ever deny that ability.

Probably should RA for the Tech board. This obviously is not the correct one for this discussion.
