That cover is a joke. MLK was neither a government institution or a policy maker.
Our nation's founding document and the supreme law of the land began with "We the people" not "we the government or we the policy makers" for a reason.

It would be more appropriate to have a picture of the Capital next to a image of the Constitution or Bill of Rights.
They already had these images on various editions. There is a reason that magazines, video games (e.g., Madden), etc. don't put the same people on the cover for every issue. The product inside the cover relates to and is represented by so many more things that there is no need to be redundant. In addition, they are trying to sell a product afterall to as many people as possible so changes may entice more people, and they want to make each edition distinct.
quote:

that cover and the implication is that his arms are crossed, because he doesn't accept the nation's institutions like the Washington monument.
Well first of all his arms are crossed in the picture because his arms are crossed in the monument the picture is capturing. And his arms are crossed in the monument because:

Report about monument

quote:

But the most striking feature here is the towering sculpture of Dr. King himself on the Stone of Hope. He stands, looking over the tidal basin toward the Jefferson Memorial. And the cherry trees that will adorn the site will be in bloom every year on the anniversary of his death.
You sound like some leftist pseudo-intellectual trying to come up with some deep themes in some crappy piece of art.

And apparently every other edition and very other unique cover for the various prints for those editions.

Unfortunately for you, your children are going to be exposed to the one edition that's pure liberal indoctrination, bent on making them worthless citizens fighting for the "snowflake award."

That's bad luck that we may not have seen since those who got drafted into the Vietnam War.

Or it could at least include the Washington Monument. I wonder what the other monument on the cover is.

Just put the US Capitol building and call it a day.

Jesus fricking Christ.

You know the funny part of your shitpost? That's probably the most conservative, dry and boring textbooks out of the 8-10 main textbooks that are used for AP Gov.

Idiot.

I cannot stress enough how much of a fricking dumbass the OP is. He is literally judging a book by the cover. Look up James Q Wilson; he is a conservative. Like I said it is one of the most if not the most conservative textbooks for AP government. Many schools do not even use it because there is a rather evident right-wing bias.

This thread really made me laugh. Truly made my night.

You can't honestly expect a person outraged by liberal indoctrination to actually take the time to see if the actual substance necessary for that indoctrination exists.

Afterall, "Don't judge a book by its cover" clearly must be a phrase to push the liberal agenda. So not judging a book by its cover would be furthering the liberal agenda. The OP is just doing his part in the fight against a liberal agenda. It's just unfortunate that be had to be exposed to such despicable subliminal imagery of the liberal agenda.

Well, hot damn! No, you made my night. At least the inside of that book is worth them studying it...still don't agree with the cover, but glad to hear that the liberals are shitting themselves over the text.....which I am sure means it is too truthful for SJW comfort...This is one time that I am happy to have interpreted something wrong.
Thanks....I will gladly shut up now.

He effected American policy. Race since the civil war has affected American history in large ways so I don't see the problem. Are we talking about album covers or something?

I'm sure I didn't get the a's vs the e's right

Glad you are shutting up. You are a bit of a reactionary child and have little to add to societal discourse.

So just to be clear, you think the fight for civil rights is some wild agenda that you don't want influencing your son?

So the liberals actually read the text and are outraged but the substance, but you're outraged by a book cover instead, plus didn't even read the book and evaluate the substance.

As bad as the liberals outrage may look in that, you've somehow managed to look WAY worse.

This is one time that I am happy to have interpreted something wrong.
And did you learn anything from it? Like maybe interpreting a textbook based on a cover is not a good approach? And maybe the cover itself didn't even warrant the interpretation, like people have been arguing since the first responses?

Thanks....I will gladly shut up now.
monceaux pointed out that the author was a Republican who worked in the George W Bush administration and that it was often considered "too conservative" in the 2nd post on page 4 nearly 8 hours ago. I cited a specific example of the criticisms a few posts later, 20 minutes after monceaux.

And on top of that numerous posters, across the political spectrum, addressed the absurdity of your argument in many different ways.

Yet, you continued with the absurdity, and arguably increased it, despite all of the arguments against. And the information that finally got you to change your view, was posted nearly 8 hours before by multiple posters, yet you continued with the absurdity.

I'll bet you can't stay in a relationship for 10 minutes. You not only feel the need to comment on everything, you actually think you know everything as well. You are the definition of a know it all prick. I just asked a question about a picture on the cover of a textbook...its not life or death, a-hole.
