Every conservative 3rd party is propped up by the media. Every liberal 3rd party is hidden as if it doesn’t exist.

It’s about one thing. Wanna find out. Easy.
Follow the money. It’s all about EV tax credits.
He thought he could endorse Trump, do a little chainsaw dance, hire some whiz kids to save some bucks and make a deal with Daddy.
But Daddy wasn’t budging. Said he’ll no
So Musk is smart to know if you split the conservative votes and make a deal with Obama you get the EV votes and the money to go to Mars.
So now he would be bought and paid for.
frick the deficit.

This post isn’t about support just thinking about third parties.
Just thinking through this in this day and age. This is probably the best opportunity for a third party to get a foothold.
Here is the strategy. You don’t do a Ross Perot and go for president. You can’t be a single issue party. You go populist and you focus on state legislators and congress. Recruit and put money in the right races and you establish some legitimacy and influence.

It really is that simple. It’s not about principles, as usual, it’s solely about money.

If they're going to do anything, they need to set up a faction within the GOP. The only way idealogical conservatives can get anything accomplished with the current GOP is to hold out on votes for RINO items and negotiate within the party. They still need to caucus with the GOP, etc., but stick to their guns and not let votes pass until they actually get something in return.
Third parties with the House and Senate could prove more interesting (only if they actually had enough members, which is unlikely), but as someone already mentioned, running a third party POTUS ticket would be a gift wrapped four years to the Left.

Does musk stand for anything other than being against the 2 party system and wanting to lower spending?
Hard to form a new party when that’s all you are basing your ideology on.
What are his thoughts on 2A? School choice? LGBT bs? Free speech?
I think he will gain mostly outcasts from the left and right, but after the initial excitement people will fade back to Republican or democrat.

Instead of writing all of that, you could have just said because it splits the vote almost guaranteeing democrats to win

Because the practical effect of third parties is always this: Democrats get elected. Period. Thanks.

Yep, can think of 37 trillion reasons why the current system is an unmitigated failure. Will this be a success, who knows. But doing nothing and continuing the current system is I think what Einstein called insanity..

Musk is watching what is happening in South America.
There are three elections in 2025, Peru, Chile and Colombia, and "Milei type" libertarians lead the polls in two of the three. Of course Milei is already transforming Argentina.
Can this work in the US? Maybe or maybe not. But Musk is known as a trendsetter and he believes it is worth a try.
