Roe v. Wade codification was voted down 51-49 with Manchin joining the 50 Republican Senators

CSPAN Video

Kamala was in the seat as President Pro Tempore of the Senate. I'm assuming they thought they had the votes, but not enough to break a filibuster. They were going to use the video to show how the Court was ruling against the will of the people. Instead we get a lovely video of her announcing the defeat.

Manchin is more powerful than Biden and is about to get paid in some way or another.

Same Manchin. The bill Schumer actually put forward was way, way too extreme for even them to support.

It doesn’t matter what the bill represented, they were going to vote the party line- no matter what. I respect their unity. They’re evil, but I respect how they stick together.

I'm sure I disagree with him on quite a bit, but at least have to respect manchin for having at least SOME principles and listening to his voters.

Heel's up spit the only thing she has ever spit out of her mouth. The results of the vote, then ran out of the chambers. And headed for home.

Maybe to remind herself to swallow.

They have a competing bill. It would codify Roe but allow for the 15-week limit from Dobbs as well as permanently codify the Hyde Amendment. Of course, the Dems have no interest in "compromise".

Much like Russian conscripts at Stalingrad, they would rather face oncoming fire of near certain death than get shot in the back by their own side for desertion.
