Playing devil's advocate here, but why should Japanese Americans and some non-American Japanese immigrants be granted reparations, yet descendants of slaves not be granted reparations, in a purely legal sense?

There still being survivors of Manzanar and elsewhere kind of helps.

There is no living person who was enslaved during a time slavery was legal. And highly unlikely to be kids or grandkids of those individuals because they last legal slaves were in 1865 (157 years ago).

Translation: too many young black males are involved in drug dealing, car-jacking, robberies and murder. We don't think the police should be arresting them. It's not fair.

Ok reparations, let's make one day this year ONLY, and we can go lay some flowers on slaves Graves as reparations. Because between foodstamps, welfare and section 8 houses, I'm waiting on my reparations from today's blacks

"Take money from people never owned slaves and give it to people who never were slaves.

Welcome to America 2022."

This summarizes the absurdity of reparations now. At one one time, it could have made sense, but our country did not engage is such massive social spending at the time. The time has simply passed.

And she thinks a one time payment from the government to those capable of proving their ancestors were slaves will change that?

I'm your huckleberry. The Japanese Americans should not have been granted reparations, that was a mistake. At least some of them that were directly affected were still living, however. It's not the business of government to correct all previous historical wrongs, that's not possible.

If anyone deserves any special treatment or reparations it's the ones that serve and defend this country while getting shite on and not the lazy frickers wanting free shite because they believe that is what they are owed.

What really chaps his arse about this, is the fact that the most staunch defenders of Israel and the Jewish people are Southern Baptist (Trump supporters), taught that the Jews are Gods chosen people.

Just wondering what would happen if the time spent ruminating about reparations was replaced by knowledge, skill, ambition, self-improvement, and a positive attitude. Just wondering...
