But descendants of those interned received reparations as well, not just the living survivors. This was signed into law in 1988 by Ronald Regan.
By the way, I am dead set against reparations, and I am not trolling. I am simply asking for some clarification from a purely legal standpoint.

Judah Benjamin was the Confederate Secretary of War, although I believe the only slaves he ever had technically belonged to his wife and were part of her dowry.
Giving benefit of the doubt, maybe he meant his direct ancestors didn't reach the US until early 1900s.

A topic near and dear to my heart.
don't need reparations. Already got free school (you get what you put into it) pell grant (big thank you to all taxpayers) and finished it off with the GI bill putting the extra money into my pocket.
reparations and lack thereof are just another excuse lazy brokedicks use to explain why they haven't done jack shite with their life and won't do jack shite with their life - because it's easier to blame white people than to look in the mirror and say, "maybe it's my fault" which I am convinced many people simply are incapable of doing.
It's almost like our country is still a .... meritocracy where you can improve your lot in life if you work hard and smart!
Quick case study of men who did not grow up rich who became rich through hard work and using their heads.

black guy who murdered a 19 year old girl working at burger king. Quotes such as " “America’s gonna burn!”
“Where’s our reparations for four hundred years of fricking slavery!”
where's the reparations for the girl he killed? Should be his own fricking life.
Anyone demanding or begging for reparations can eat shite. But hey, the type of person who asks for it will be like that Chappelle Show sketch.
The good - they'll waste any and all fricking money and put it back into the economy!

Consider that there is already a historical legal precedent - Japanese American internment reparations.
Before anyone responds with " it would be impossible to prove if somebody is a direct descendant of a slave", this is a completely separate argument, and only represents the difficulty of pay reparations, not whether reparations would be legal.
Interested to hear responses.
