This and the comment about comparing Romeo and Juliet & The Canterbury tales to explicit pornographic material both in writing and images available to young children is one of the biggest reaches I've ever read.

Somebody check and see if this fricking weirdo can come within 500 ft of schools

This is not correct.

Carlson's proposed legislation, HB 414, and Amedée's HB 545 removes public libraries and school libraries from the list of exempted entities.

The bill applies to both public libraries. Not "public school libraries" only

Public libraries have age-restricted content already, which is the appropriate way to deal with this. In addition, the parent is usually checking out for the kid, and what their child checks out, the parent can monitor.

Yeah, this bill goes beyond that.

Public libraries should not be engaging in censorship because they are for everyone and have the ability to age-restrict content.

You can't say this and also say you support this bill.

On the internet? Sure. Let's censor the internet!

Oh wait, we already have the ability for parents to block internet access.

School laptops, wifi, and computer labs come stocked with porn blockers on them. Schools already attempt to censor the internet so that students aren’t exposed to pornography at school.

Then I would support amending the bill to apply to public school libraries but not public libraries.

Assuming you’re over 18, you’ll still get to read the books about kiddie diddling in the public library, Houston.

Settle down.

Obviously a grooming eunuch such as yourself should be concerned by this legislation.

That's the basis for pretty much all laws, Mr Deep Thinker.

I always said you are a full of shite closet libtard. You just further proved my point.

And save your schtick about “being in the know” about any form of government happenings. The only thing you know about is from what you see on television or read in the papers.
You don’t know crap!

When you do come running here to play “look at me”, it’s always with libtarded crap like this.
You’re a liberal through and through. Just admit it, loser.

I would leave it all alone, but that is a lot more reasonable to only apply it to school libraries.

Maybe I need to spend more time in my kids schoool libraries, but I just don't think there is a level of porn available in those books that compares to what is out there on the internet.

Or... hear me out... you can tell your child not to check that book out of the library.
Kind of difficult to monitor if you're not physically present at school with them to see what books they're looking at in the library

Of if they do, you can return it for them.

By that point, they've already at least skimmed through all the images and illustrations...if not read the whole book

I'll admit I'm not a crazy far-right winger who wants to use government money and resources to push my beliefs on others.

You got me there!!

Unfortunetly for most of you, any one who isn't a far right wing crazy big government loving retard... is automatically a crazy caged liberal.

It's either A or B for low-IQ posters like you.

The difference is that you, as a parent, have the ability to put porn blockers and safe search software on the devices your children can access at home. You have the ability to restrict what tv shows your child can watch. You expect their school library to be free of that kind of content, but you don’t really have any means of controlling it. That’s why a government solution is needed, because the government is already the one curating and purchasing the library books. If parents are enraged at their students having access to non-age appropriate literature in a space specifically for children of a certain age, only the government can actually provide a policy that addresses those concerns.

The parent isn’t in the library when the kid checks out the book. If the kid has a locker, they may never even take it home. How would a parent ever be able to know?

You know what else you can’t do at school? Have a sign that says bong hits for Jesus.

Or if you are a tobacco company, can’t have a cartoon camel.

I don’t really have a problem with schools outlawing stuff.

But bookstores and Amazon have actually banned books.

You going to stick up for those people?

Or is it just I hate conservatives trying to keep porn out of schools?

Also, when someone says I don’t want porn in school libraries, why was the response to make signs and shirts saying trust our librarians?

It’s fricking weird, and you people are fricking weird.

Do you not look though your child's schoolbag on occasion?

Possible. Maybe that's a great time as a parent to have a conversation about what they read / saw and go from there? A teachable moment, if you will?

Or are you so terrible at parenting that you belive a few page skims in a book is going to be more influential on your child than your years of parenting?

Bitch all you want, Conservatives have absolutely zero issue giving the government the power to protect children from sexually explicit content.
