Trump may just be trying to get McCain to say something nice about him before he passes. One would think that pawn of the MIC would be ecstatic about an entire new branch of the military his contributors can feed off of.

I would support cuts across the board but let me assure you a new branch of the military will not be born of the current budget. They would add "hugely" to the budget to establish the new branch. The heads of all the branches are among other things taxpayer funded lobbyist for money for their branch. They often take positions with military vendors after retirement.

Well across the board cuts are generally stupid and really don’t do anything but sound good in talking points.

The answer is to abolish the active duty Army and most of the Air Force and fold them into a national guard type function. Funding for the Navy should be significantly increased and a new branch that controls Space, Cyber and our Nuclear Forces should be well funded also. Or just give all the nukes to the Navy. The whole nuclear triad thing is retarded and outdated anyway.
